New Moon Bringing on The Year of the Werewolf?

According to MSNBC 2010 may well be the year of the werewolf as much as 2009 from Twilight-True Blood was the year of the vampire. Everything from New Moon’s shape shifters to a remake of The Wolfman is slated.

“Vampires, move over: Werewolves are about to claw their way to the top.

Besides the sudden sprouting of hair expected on Jacob (Taylor Lautner) come Nov. 20’s release of the “Twilight” sequel “New Moon,” MTV is getting ready to howl with a TV version of the 1985 Michael J. Fox movie “Teen Wolf,” about a high-school kid who discovers the strange effects of a full moon, says the Hollywood Reporter.”

If early ticket sales are any indication, it looks like they may be on to something here.

  1. Not really fond of werewolf movies, just love Jake and the pack (our twi-wolves) don’t enjoy the brainless kill anything in your path wolves. lol I love Stefenies characters so much better. New Moon will be the only wolf pack I will be going to see.

  2. The good thing ’bout SM characters is, they r so human… not likely this kind of bloodlust disgusting beast.

  3. I don’t really care too much for those young immature adolescent teenage wolf (sorry Jacob) or wolf packs. Give me a loving, mature, handsome, gentle vampire like Edward any day! Edward as a vampire will never have to “move over” for a wolf. It will always be the year of the Vampires. Just ask Bella.

  4. I do think that the next year will be the year of the werewolf, because – in addition to “New Moon” and “Teen Wolf” – Benecio del Toro will star in what looks to be a really good remake of “The Wolfman” in February 2010; and Catherine Hardwicke just signed on to direct “The Girl With the Red Riding Hood,” which will be a werewolf movie with a teenage love triangle.

I love Twilight, but with all the vampire movies and TV shows springing up, it’ll be kind of nice to branch off and explore werewolf mythology, more. I’m a horror junkie, so I say, “bring it on!”

  5. i dont really like werwolves (i dont mean that as like a defensive Team Edward fan) i just dont rly get into them they rn’t that interesting now vampires hav so much mystery and danger and excitement but werewolves are like “woof i turned into a wolf, fear me” its like wow that was a little bit wierd and then u get ovr it… sry i do like the werewovles in twilight im not hatin them or anything cuz i luv them but u know wut i mean… :)

  6. Leave it to Hollywood to jump on the bandwagon I hate all the fakey twilight wannabees like that new show on the CW Vampire Diaries I didn’t even watch it but could the commercial be any closer to twilight just with different names and so on. So now that they are pushing the werewolf thing with New Moon that is just gonna be a new craze please!

Btw I love werewolves personally but really only Jacob all the other creepy I’m gonna eat you ones I could do without lol

  7. Sara(Yeah theres many of us) says:

I LOVE werewolves! I prefer them a MILLION Times over the vampires :) But I think next year is going to be the year of the Hunger Games D: Sorry Wolfy’s D:

  8. Stephenie’s werewolves are so much better than these creepy beasts. Well, I think it’ll be a great thing if 2010 becomes the year of the werewolf (not because I’m Team Jacob, I’m Team Switzerland anyway). The vampires got a turn now it’s the werewolves’.

  9. All I can say about this is this:
Little girls it seems to say/ Never stop upon your way/ Never trust a stranger friend/ No one knows how it will end/ As your pretty, so be wise/ Wolves may lurk in every guise/ Now as then, tis simple truth/ Sweetest tongue has sharpest tooth

Guess where that came from. In truth it is probably one of the greatest werewolf films every concieved. Think of it as the werewolf version of Twilight, before there was Twilight… :) Just found the score today, and WOW it has one of the most viciously beautiful scores, I’ve probably ever heard.
