Kings Of Leon: Officially NOT on New Moon Soundtrack

It looks like the Kings of Leon will not be on the New Moon Soundtrack, at least according to a quot from teh band that appears in Billboard.

“Kings of Leon are pondering the release of another single for “Only By Night” — Followill is thumping for “Notion” — but will not, as rumored, be contributing anything to the soundtrack for “New Moon,” the second film in the “Twilight” series.”

Amanda Bell, The Twilight Examiner runs down the rest of the story for you here.

So since KOL is now out, what band do you want to see most on the New Moon soundtrack?

  1. TheHolyThief says:

    Noooooooooo. D:

I want Jason Mraz on the soundtrack.

  2. Chiara says:

Boooooo!! Major thumbs down! I was really REALLY hoping they’d contribute to the soundtrack ’cause I’m in love with KOL and thought they’d make an awesome addition. Le sigh. :( Oh well. I’m sure the soundtrack will still be good, and that I’ll be buying it approximately 12 seconds after it’s released.

  3. A says:

Bummer, I love me some KoL.

  4. twimel says:

Muse, obviously–but have we yet heard of any confirmations for the NM soundtrack? Just wondering if I have missed something. Dying to know!

  5. Stephanie says:

    The Kills would be perfect.

  6. Tillie says:

Noooo…was really hoping they would end up the soundtrack…never enough KOL!

  7. Emma says:

i would have liked them to be on the soundtrack. i really like their music. kind of a bummer it didnt work out.

i think the honey trees should be on the soundtrack. i’m a little obsessive about my belief they should be on the soundtrack. especially their songs love & loss and to be with you. but mainly love & loss.

  8. lauraa black says:

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!! i cant stand Kings of Leon..they sing soo annoying but theyre really missing out..that was a dumb choice…YES!!!!..i hope Muse is on it <33

  9. D says:

MONA. An up and coming band from Dayton Ohio. You guys should hear “Whats mine is Mine” A great Edward vs Jacob song. Check em out on myspace.

  10. TwiAsh says:

Sad. I was hoping they would be included. They are awesome and would have fit in perfectly.

  11. Madeline says:

It stinks! I really wanted them to be on the soundtrack.Well I at least hope Muse is on it.

  12. Maelina says:

Hmm.. I wonder why the cast and even some of the producers were in the KOL concert two weeks ago then, didn’t it have anything to do with the soundtrack? I thought it was a ‘business’ thing, but maybe not.. Anyway, I’m a bit disappointed. They’re agreat band.. But I really couldn’t see KOL in the movie. I don’t care who is on the soundtrack as long as the music fits the film.

  13. Jessica says:

I’ve only ever herd one song by KOL, and it wasn’t too bad… they have great potential, so I wouldn’t have minded them contributing to the sondtrack. Oh well, so long as Coldplay is on it, I’m a happy camper :)

  14. Viola says:

Thank Neptune! I despise Kings of Leon.
I’d rather have yes, more Muse, Coldplay too, and My Chemical Romance.

  15. Courtney says:

Yaaaay! Seriously I don’t get why KoL are so popular…I was so bummed when I heard they might be on the soundtrack. My day is now happier… =)

I wish Muse and Paramore would both come back for New Moon…

  16. TwilightFreak says:

    DANG IT!
No Paramore, and now NO KINGS OF LEON??
    WAAAAAA!
Oh well, as long as we have Muse…..
    :) thats most importaint

  17. TwilightFreak says:

Anyone who isnt very familiar with Kings Of Leon,…
Go listen to their song called ‘Closer’.
Thats what I wanted on the NM soundtrack. :( boohoo.

    • AlienEye says:

I totally agree- ‘Closer’ by Kings Of Leon is incredible. I discovered that song a couple of months ago (then it led me to some other KOL stuff), it made a HUGE impression on me & it still does (and I’m incredibly picky when it comes to music).
Plus it really has the perfect Twilight-esque vibe: cold, alienated, with a taut edge.
I’m so disappointed it won’t be on the OST! :(

    • Jellybean38 says:

“Closer” would have been perfect – it’s ABOUT Vampires!!!! Done and Done – Come on KOL! You don’t have to spend any time on a new song, just dump that on there & you’re done!!!!! It’s angsty, dark, sexy & brooding PERFECT!!
Could have worked for background music for Victoria’s scenes, Jasper’s, the Volturi – “2000 years of runnin’ taking it’s toll” -an old vampire…. Heck, even Edward (I’d overlook his age & lyric discrepancy)

COME ON!!!! Maybe eclipse?????? My theory is they wrote it after watching David Slade’s “30 days of night”….. hmmmmm

  18. safina says:

    Definitely Muse.

  19. headache_heartache says:

Y’know what? I don’t have an opinion on who should or shouldn’t be on the soundtrack because I know it will blow me away like the Twilight soundtrack did. When I first looked at the track listing I was like wowwwwww this is going to suck…and yet a year later its still in heavy rotation on my iPod. I was so impressed with the eclectic-ness of it, and both the Black Ghosts AND Iron & Wine songs still give me the shivers (in the good way) to this day. With or without Paramore/KoL/whoever, I trust you, makers of New Moon amazing-ness!!!

  20. mrsmkeyman says:

nooo ima cry! my mom aND me are HUGE fans of KOL and the twilight saga:( tht blows:(

  21. Serenity says:

I was so looking foward to a song from Kings of Leon on the soundtrack :(

  22. Rose says:

If Muse and Blue October are on, then I will be okay. Blue October has a lot of songs that fit this movie and one that I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE for Breaking Dawn. Congratulations. Best Jacob song ever!

Sorry got a bit off topic!

  23. Martina says:

I personally can’t stand Kings Of Leon, their work cannot even be called music. But that’s just my opinion….

  24. Jonah says:

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Bon Iver better now say no!

  25. anne says:

Ahh man i wanted some kings of leon they are awesome. Oh well i am still hoping for A Fine Frenzy on the soundtrack, almost lover is the ultimate NM song

    • kassie says:

I know that song is awesome. I think “near to you” by A Fine Frenzy is an awesome Bella-Jacob song (although I’m still team Edward). Also Hana Pestle “Need”

  26. Valee says:

I don’t really know KOL so I can’t say if its a bad thing. But I think Keane could replace them with “Somewhere only we know” and “Everybody’s changing”.Coldplay, The Fray and Blue October will do a good job too.

  27. Yas says:

    COLDPLAYYYYYYYYYYYY and muse.

  28. AnaBella..._ says:

Well… i liked KOL for the soundtrack.. but im thinking Muse.. of course and ill like Paramore again and My Chemical Romance but they’ve already said that the wont… But i want Swim In Silence of Paramore in it. If that doesnt sounds like New Moon i dont know what does!

  29. KJ says:

I wish Blue October would be on the soundtrack since they weren’t on Twilight. Into the Ocean is perfect for the cliffdiving scene, plus they have alot of other songs that would work too.

  30. Jamie says:

I do love the Closer song by KOL.
But if they don’t put Hate me by Blue October on the New Moon soundtrack I’m going to have some issues with Summit.
    Love you Muse fans!

    • Susie says:

I am totally with you here. If they do not put Hate Me by Blue October I’m gonna be really upset. It is the perfect song.

  31. meg says:

republic tigers (fight song would be a great song for jacob!), white rabbits, and lots of muse! agree that closer by KOL would be amazing!

  32. Faith says:

Fudge!!! I was truly hoping that KOL was gonna be on the soundtrack, I have been a fan for years…

  33. Jackalyn says:

SO SAD!!!! Love KOL, would love to have seen them on NM soundtrack….

Going to see them in Nashville in October, can’t wait!!!!

  34. mega says:

i hope Muse comes back for the second soundtrack. And i really wish Paramore would do another song for it. I love them. But if they dont i guess i’ll just have to settle for getting their new album in sep. and going to their last concert of the year in october.

  35. Erica says:

Bummmmmer… KOL would’ve been perfect for this soundtrack! True to form and in the spirit of wishful thinking, I’d actually like to see some old stuff make it onto this record:

1.Depeche Mode “Never Let Me Down Again” or “Halo”
    2.Shakespear’s Sister “Stay”
3.NIN “Something I Can Never Have”
    4.Alice in Chains “Don’t Follow”
5.Boom Crash Opera “Love Me To Death”
6.Sarah McLachlan “Fear”, “Do What You Have To Do” or “Elsewhere”
    7.Chevelle “Send the Pain Below”
8.Eighteen Visions “Our Darkest Days” or “Broken-Hearted”
    9.Coldplay “The Scientist”
    10.Evanescence “My Immortal”
    11.Breaking Benjamin “Evil Angel”
12.Fuel “Die Like This” or “Days With You”
    13.Buffalo Tom “Late at Night”
    14.Collective Soul “Run”
    15.Dave Matthews “The Space Between”
16.Goo Goo Dolls “Here is Gone”
    17.Seminole County “Pieces”
    18.Tabitha’s Secret “Dizzy”
    19.Sixx AM “Permission”
    20.Tiger Army “Forever Fades Away”
21.30 Seconds to Mars “Was It A Dream?”
22.Toad the Wet Sprocket “Something’s Always Wrong”

…and just because I love the songs I would throw in David Cook “Come Back to Me” and Mat Kearney “Closer to Love”

    • papermoon says:

i second pretty much everything on your list.
i hadn’t thought about ‘late at night’, but now that you mention it, i think it would fit well ^^

    • papermoon says:

oh, and i think Depeche Mode’s Precious would be *perfect*, though its totally wishful thinking.

  36. papermoon says:

*is disappointed* … i didn’t like the majority of the songs on the Twilight soundtrack (muse, iron and wine, and maybe 2-3 others were pretty much it for me) so i was hoping for a band i liked.

  37. frosst says:

    MUSE of course!

MUSE MUSE MUSE MUSE MUSE MUSE MUSE MUSE MUSE

  38. Blue says:

Awh oh no I really wanted them on the soundtrack!

  39. jessicaaa says:

i think a very good song to put on the soundtrack is “i’ll follow you into the dark” by death cab for cutie

    its like perfect =)

  40. Katy says:

I think “My Immortal” is perfect lyrically but it’s too well known to work well in the movie. It might not come off right. :/

  41. Anita says:

I am the Biggest Fan Of KOL, But I love the fact that they are not Joining the Twilight Soundtracks ONLY BECAUSE, Its like they want to know people like them, For them not because of all the Hype with the twilight Saga. So i am Glad they didn’t but on the other hand i would love to hear a new song by them.

  42. WeeVeela says:

Oh-no! What a bummer. I really really love KOL. For those of you who have only heard the radio rotation–you are missing out. KOL is much more than what you’ve heard. I think it was summed up by Caleb (KOL) at the Charlotte concert where he introd’d “Use Somebody (or Sex on Fire)”… “This song is for those of you who didn’t know you were coming to a rock concert” Nice. Says it all.

Muse of course needs to be on it. They have a new album coming out, so maybe even something new? I’d love to see some Radiohead actually appear on the soundtrack.

  43. Jackalyn says:

Still crying over the lack of KOL, I think the song “Cold Desert” is the saddest, most gut wrenching song ever..

I always think of that song when I read the book….

It just puts me in a place of complete and utter despair….
