Access Hollywood managed to get Boo Boo Stewart on their Dish of Salt program and got the following info:
“I heard there’s going to be three more movies,” he told Access Hollywood’s Laura “Dish of Salt” Saltman in a new interview. “‘Eclipse,’ ‘Breaking Dawn,’ and there should be one more.”
The star’s rep also noted the additional films when Boo Boo’s casting was announced to Access.
“Boo Boo Stewart will play the character Seth Clearwater in the next three installments of the wildly popular ‘Twilight’ film franchise based on the best-selling novels by Stephenie Meyer,” the rep said in a statement.”
This would seem to back what many people including Stephenie Meyer herself have said about Breaking Dawn. The book is long enough to warrant the storylines being broken into two movies rather than one. There is also new-found precedent for this in Hollywood with the final Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, being split into two movies.
So what do you think about Breaking Dawn being split into two movies? Where do you think the first movie should stop and the next one pick up?

I think splitting ‘breaking dawn’ into two movies would be awesome!!! It should be split by pre-bella transformation and post-bella transformation….I mean makes sense to me. It would definitely leave fans wanting more.
I think making Breaking Dawn is the right thing to do. And the perfect spilit point is when Bella is having Renessmee. When Bella loses conciousness is when BD Part one should end and when Bella regains conciousiness is when BD Part two should start. It’s perfect. I hope this is what Summit is planning on making BD into 2 movies. BUT BUT BUT only if all the main characters sign on as well. No one else can play those parts. Especially Edward, Bella, Dr. Carlise, Alice, Rosalie, Emmett, Jasper, Esme and Jacob.
Wow. Would they do a “to be continued”? That’s the only way I can see doing this. I think it would have to be first movie shows the wedding and honeymoon… and then the cliff-hanger being that Bella is pregnant. (Can’t you just see them ending with Edward’s face upon realizing this news? Remember how freaked out he was? Oh my god it would be classic.) Then movie two starts with her on the couch with Rosalie guarding her…and continues on to the end of the book. Un-LESS they’re going to shove wedding, honeymoon, pregnancy and birth into one film… and do a 2nd film based on the visiting vampires and the Volturi. Um, I’m thinking “yuck” on this because it would lose the central “Bella and Edward” theme that is so present in all the books. But no complaints here. I’ll take my Cullens any way I can get them.
i don’t want them 2 break-up Breaking Dawn caus ethen we have 2 wait even longer! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think that it is GREAT they are spliting BD into 2 movies. When I heard the rumor of 3 splits- I thought it was a bit excessive, even though the book is kinda split into 3 already. In my opinion, a good ending place for the first movie is the trip back to Forks from Isle Esme after the pregnency is discovered. I know it’s fairly early in the book, but it’s a good “cliff hanger” and not to mention that at the beginning of Jacob’s section immediately following the discovery of the pregnancy there has been some time passed. None of this will work though if Summit keeps the PG status and omits all of the questionable details, which limits whath the movie could expand on, similar to how they’re expanding on the fight scence in Eclipse that we don’t really get much detail on in the book. All of this is just my opinion, I am not a director, writer, producer, or actor. Just a fan and viewer, but I think New Moon will be EXPONENTALY better than Twilight was, so hopefully Summit will continue in the right direction with the remaining films.
I agree that Breaking Dawn should be broken into two movies… and they should be pre-transformation and post transformation. That’s the most logical breaking point.
Not a big fan of BD, so frankly I don’t really care what they do with it.
Breaking Dawn was horrible. It was too drawn out and the plot was up and everywhere. poorly written. Minus all the unecessary rambling on Bella’s part and maybe some of Jacob’s, it could fit in one movie. I wish they made up a happy ending in Eclipse! I am NOT looking forward to BD.
As an ORIGINAL fan of the twilight saga (not one of these little pre-teen fans that joined the band wagon about a year ago), quite frankly, this makes me sick. BD is only going to be able to scrape by as one movie and just barely. Who on this earth is going to be able to watch Bella the walking hemorage and Bella the violent sex addict for more then 10 mins? The only glimer of hope for BD as a movie is jacob’s part, and will that be enough to make up for 700+ pages of bad plot and bad writing/prose. for all of you people who say that BD is the best book out there are really insulting literature. I feel so turned off by Sumit milking every last penny they can get out of Twilight combined with this new crazy, imature fan base. It’s ruined a very entertaining fanchise. I can only hope that sumit will wisen up and tack on a wedding at the end of eclipse and end it there before Twilight is butchered further.
Because I’m a 19 year old college student who didn’t buy the books until after I saw a clip from the movie at the end of October that makes me a preteen fan who just jumped onto the bandwagon and is being milked for every penny I’m worth? I, unlike the preteen you’re accusing me of being, do prefer the books more then the movies. I do prefer being able to get into the character’s head and know what they are thinking, rather then having pretty boys representing the characters on the page.
Summit is going to do whatever gets them their revenue and their operating income up, and if that’s splitting the last book into two films, that what they are going to do. The execs aren’t making you go to the theater to watch the movie, they aren’t making you buy the merchandise, and they aren’t going to give in to the fans that want only one movie. They act how they see best for the company, and if you don’t agree with how the movies are done, don’t watch them because no one is making you.
Like I said, I’m not surprised that the movie has been split into two (if that’s what has happened), but it is what it is.
Well, I’m 32 so definately not preteen. I love BD and actually read it twice back to back. You may be an “original” fan (what does THAT mean- you got the first copy?)but you still need a dose of maturity. I can like chocolate, even if you don’t. That doesn’t make chocolate bad or either of us stupid. Its called different tastes and opinions. The tent is big enough for us all. If you don’t want to see BD as a movie- don’t see it! You have no stake in the failure or success of the franchise.
I’m sorry, but just because that book was 700 + pages long doesn’t mean that enough actually happened to make it into two movies. Or two good movies, anyway.
ABSOLUTELY it should be broken up into 2 movies! There is way too much material that just can’t be omitted. A couple of things I WOULD omit are the entire ‘Jake pov chapters before going to the Cullens’ and the ‘in depth background stories’ on the nomadic vampires that come to ‘witness’ before the Volturi. But yes, please divide BD into 2 movies. There is just too much important stuff that simply CANNOT BE absent from a successful and satisfying finale to our beloved saga.
I think 2 movies would be better. They can make it into 1…. but I mean why would you? If people are worried about not enough action, well last time I checked, movies weren’t all about action. Besides, just like in the recent Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince where they added some scenes that never even happened in the book just to spice it up (Attack on the Burrow), they can do the same for Breaking Dawn.
And just because only Irina dies at the end, doesn’t mean some other characters cant be killed off. As long as it isn’t a main character, Im sure they’d be willing to have some sort of fight because lets face it… The end of Breaking Dawn was straight up boring. All that build up and then theres no fight? Seriously?
They should start the 2nd half of breaking dawn on chapter 27 when Irina sees Bella, and Renesme in the woods.
Two movies sounds like a good idea or just like a really long movie. I would rather have either of those than have too much of the book left out. They could probably end the first after Bella becomes a vampire. But i think a lot of twilight fans would be willing to sit through a three hour movie if it would work better.
This is a terrible idea.
Although Breaking Dawn is a long book, most of it is the inner thought processing and angst from whoever happens to be narrating. There isn’t enough plot to warrant two films, unless they added in some extra story, which considering how Breaking Dawn ultimately played out, wouldn’t necessarily be a bad idea.
You also have to take into account that some of the plot lines in Breaking Dawn will probably not translate well into film.
While about half of the Twilight fandom enjoyed the idea of Bella and Edward having a child, there were quite a few who did not. Already you have a good portion of the fanbase not nearly as enthused for Breaking Dawn as they may have been for the previous films. Combine that with Breaking Dawn being split, I just can’t see that going over well.
There’s no doubt in my mind that Breaking Dawn will be made into a film, and it has enough material to sit comfortably in a two hour time slot. But splitting Breaking Dawn up would only make the films drag as much as the book did.
Yeah, I’m one of those who didn’t like the idea of Bella and Edward having a baby.. As soon as the baby plot was hinted I knew nothing good can come out of it. And the confirmation of the pregnancy just killed it for me, right there. The magic was gone. I read (struggled through, actually) the rest just to get a closure and refused to think about it since. Until now all this BD talk has reminded me of it, and I can’t help but think that the movie (or 2 – I don’t care) will come off as a joke.. To me the plot is so ridiculous that I don’t see how it can turn out as anything but pathetic. Unless Tarantino decides to direct it and make the trashy aspect of it look cool.
He’s seems to be laid back and easy going like his character, Seth. Cute kid, too. Reminds me of a young John Stamos when he had long hair.
Well, I loved Breaking Dawn so much that I don’t care if it’s one movie or two. I think there’s a lot they could do with it either way, so it will be interesting to see how they write the script… Either way, I’m sure they’ll have challenges, but I must admit I like the idea of getting an extra movie to enjoy.
I do think there’s enough material there for two movies, if it’s done right. Even though BD may seem like it drags at certain points, it’s certainly more complex than New Moon or Eclipse. Like everyone else here mentioned, there are two specific climaxes in the plot, as opposed to one climax per book in the previous three.
And I’m just going to say it right now… I can’t wait to see what they do with the whole Renesmee plotline. I thought it was genius on Stephenie’s part.
Talk about going against readers’ expectations!
mhh he is smexi! wait 3 more movies?!??!? lk BD spilt in two…okayy
Don’t split BD. Keep it as one. Just make the fifth film Midnight Sun. No harm in making that is their. Also means meyer would have to complete it. Double jackpot.
yey! im glad there will be four more movies (inc NM).
i love all te books obsessively, but BD was definatley not my favorite. in one way, i kinda didnt want them to make BD in a film. wierd but i thought they should hav left it at eclipse somehow.
BD is obviously going to be the most difficult of the films to make (ie renesmee, bella looking beautiful ect)so i really hope they dont screw it up! (or change director – that would be confusing).
i agree that they should prob break it off at bellas transformation, but for people wo only like the films ad havent read the book (yes there are some) would there be enough action in the first half?
**LOTS OF SPOILERS**
I think that they should split BD in two parts. It’s much better. It’s a book full of little details that fans love. All the jokes of Jacob on Rosalie, the spiltting up of the wolf pack!! I’m NOT team Jacob, but come on! It’a an important part. And all the Isle Esme stuff, Bella’s pregnacy, Jacob impringting after Renesmee’s birth, Bella’s first day as a vampire, the house they built 4 her and Edward, the arm-wrestling of Emmett and Bella, the sparkling, and then when Alice leaves, you have to feel the sadness of everyone! The only thing people who didn’t read the saga wouldn’t undersand is the J. Jenks part…it’s quite puzzling. But then there’s the Irina part and the arrival of the covens, the fast growth of Renesmee, the Bella’s anger when she hears the nickname “Nessie”….there’s too much for one movie. You need to split it up. That’s just my opinion.
2 movies? This inspired two thoughts in my head:
1.) Not a rip off of Harry Potter?
don’t get me wrong…i’m a Twilight fan, i love the series, but i’m also an HP fan…and honestly, i think i’m not the only one going to think this…i can just imagine the uproar of the pure HP fans “Freaking glittery vampires are ripping off Harry Potter &$#*” or something like that….but yeah, this 2 movies idea seems dodgy
2.) Where’s the split?
BD, in my opinion is a strange book…when i read it, i kept thinking “this could just be some successful fanfiction”…and well, it’s going to be really difficult to put on film without non-fans and newbies going “what in the world was that?” ’cause yeah, BD is hard to translate to screen…first there’s the whole strange Jacob-Nessie relationship…us twilighters would be fine with it…but newbies are just going to be screaming “bloody pedo!!” or something….then there was that anti-climatic ending…ppl watching the movie would be like “oooh fight, fight fight! a few more seconds, a couple more seconds, come on, come on” then alice comes and ppl would be sitting there w/ popcorns dropping out of their open jaws
yeah, that’s my opinion…..one movie is good, just because of the strange material they’ll handle, but two movies is ok since there’s TOO MUCH material…so i’m torn, but i’m not a big fan of BD so yeah…
I don’t think he meant that breaking dawn was going to be two movies he signed on for 3 new moon eclispes and BD is the third
Seth is not in New Moon
Nush, I thought the same thing about Gianna. Of course, when I asked people about it, no one said anything and/or forgot who that person was
Plus, what about Embery? Why didn’t he inmprint?
But I believe Breaking Dawn should be split into two movies, otherwise, you would have a rushed movie like Twilight was with its romance. Twilight focused more on the thriller of James’s crew rather than the romance of Edward and Bella, which is what the books are about (hence why I don’t like the movie all that much.)
One Breaking Dawn movie could be about the pregnancy and Jake’s imprintment. The second one could be about the new Bella. The Volturi. The End.
What if they are shooting some New Moon scenes?
I love that BD may be two movies, it would almost have to be. I can see the split right after Bella wakes from the change, her eyes fly open, blood red, and the first movie ends. That would leave plenty of time to show the wedding, honeymoon and Bella’s nightmares, foreshadowing for the next movie which could be all about Nessie and the Volturi. Granted the first movie would be mostly setup for the next, but the latest HP was setup for the final two movies.
I think you guys are forgetting alot that happend in the book.. you guys are saying that not very much happend exept inner turmoil. There was alot that happend with Jacob and the wolf pack and leah. I bet they will focus alot more on that aspect of it too. I think they could B.D into a really good movie. If you guys dont’ think so..well then, Don’t go watch it…it’s as simple as that.It wont bother me any… More room for me.
I’m not so sure they need to do BD as two movies. Certain things could be cut (like all the details of Esme’s Island and such) and cut in a way that will still be satisfying. But I guess if they had to split it I would definitely go with ending the first one with the end of Jacob’s book. Maybe not including the fact that he imprints on Renesmee. A cliff-hanger so people who haven’t read the books will want to come back, to see if Jacob or the pack kills the baby. Just my opinion
I always thought that when SM said BD should be 2 movies,
theyd cut it off where Bella became a vampire.
And I pictured this whole climatic scene at the end where Bella gives birth to Renesmee and then shes laying on a couch or something at the Cullens hows, it looks like shes asleep
and then Edwards’s like “Bella?”
and she opens her eyes and theyre like bright red
but idk if thats just too….idk too something
bad? lol
but Yeah Id want a follow up story too
I’m excited that BD could be divided into two movies. I heard a rumor that it was being divided into 3 and I thought that would be ridiculous, but this makes more sense. Stephenie thought it would have to be made into more than one movie, so I like that they may be taking her advice. I think they should end the 1st one on the cliffhanger of Bella giving birth/dying and Jake imprinting. That would be awesome. The rest of the book, with Bella adjusting to becoming a vampire and a mother, and all of the new vamps that are introduced to go up against the Volturi, as well as the disappearance of Alice and Jasper, should make for an interesting final movie.
I think they should create two movies. One should be done in Jacobs perspective and one should be done in Bella’s just like the book is!
just thought id share that Summit contacted access hollywood and said booboos comments were “premature”(read this on twilight examiner). he has contract options for additional movies but they arent set in stone. so still, there might not even be a breaking dawn, let alone two.
YAY! theyre breaking it down! I hope it works. I read ALOT of comments just now and i think some of them made cool suggestions for the movie. Like, 1st movie- wedding, isle esme and nessie, 2nd movie- jacob imprints and so on. And that 2nd movie should start when bella opens her eyes and then feeling the pain
OK here’s my thoughts on this.
Breaking Dawn would be better as two seperate movies.
Although the book is seperated into 3 parts, the first two flow together pretty well, and then the third one is like a bump in the road, a sudden “jolt”. So definietly the first two book would be part 1 and the last book part 2.
I have a feeling they are just going to skip all the sex stuff entirely. And that will make alot of us mad, considering that the whole series had been leading to that wedding night.
I think if BD has to be split into two movies it should end with Jacob imprinting and start with Bella about to wake up from the change.
Personally i think it should be two movies because the book is varly large and look how long twilight was for a 400 page book – over 2 hours? BD would be around 4-5 hours, it would have to be split.
And when he says there is going to be another film, does he mean a film showing what happened after bd or 2 films for bd?
If they do decide to go ahead with this, they need to get some serious CGI, unless they want to throw a child around on a harness LOL.
im excited though!!
Im so happy they casted booboo for Seth Clearwater, his one of my favourite characters and he looks just how I expected him to look like, along with Leah!
terrible idea. no, summit, please. not enough material, seriously. and since Nothing Happens during the last few chapters, what are you going to build up to over the course of two movies? take a hint from walt Disney: make money to make movies, not the other way around. don’t sacrifice the source material.
One extended movie (2 plus hours) works for me. I agree with many of the comments that say BD does not have substantial action/plot to convey into 2 movies. However, some of the fan fiction is so well written on The Twilight Saga web page it could boost BD greatly.
I would be perfectly happy if it were just one super long movie…instead of having to wait for a whole nother movie to come out
I think its the best to split up the book into 2 movies because it would be such a pity to cut off any scenes, their all necessary for the plot…I mean, can any of you think a chapter of breaking dawn that could be cut off???? =/
I would think that there’s enough that happens before and after the birth for it to be split into two movies although, I also will dread the wait time.
Before, it’s the wedding, the honeymoon, and then Jacob takes over the story. (More time with the wolves!) While I didn’t really like it in the book, I came to see that it’s a necessary part of telling the story. The first movie ends with Bella dying and Jacob seeing Nessie the first time. Then the last movie opens with Edward and Carlisle discussing what he could have done wrong and why hasn’t Bella woken up yet. Then there’s Bella being changed, hunting, the training, all the other vampires, Bella doing what she can to save Nessie and of course the big near battle scene for the end. That scene alone took a long time in my opinion. And though she wrote “The End”, I don’t really see Stephanie leaving the story there…she did leave it open for more to be written…Maybe it’s just wishful thinking that she will write in more about what happens after the “Happily Ever After”.
Boo Boo,
Grandma is VERY PROUD of you. I love you very much and keep up the good work. Your a very good young man. Again, I’m VERY PROUD of you……
