MuteMath’s new album Armistice releases today. I have a copy and have been listening to it endlessly. The CD has 12 tracks one of which is Spotlight that we all know and love. MuteMath continues to make music their way using various instruments and styles to give them a truly unique sound.
The Lost Year is a slower track with a beautiful mix of piano and strings. The lyrics are subtle yet meaningful. Clipping brings you the unique sound that is expected from MuteMath. Burden gives a distinctively rock feel, again showing that MuteMath doesn’t really fit into one genre. And lastly showing their truly unique style is Armistice, the title track, which combines guitar, brass and some very cool mixing.
I’ve been listening to the CD for the last two days and there isn’t a single track I find myself wanting to skip which is unusual on a CD. This comes from MuteMath’s incredible sound diversity, not one song sounds like another which makes for a truly enjoyable listen. Â
Other Songs I love: Pins and Needles, No Response and Goodbye
Now not only did I get a copy to listen to but I also have 3 copies to give away to 3 lucky Lexicon winners!!! Here’s what you need to do, simply leave a comment stating why you like MuteMath. You have until 11:59PM EST tonight. After that 3 lucky winner will be drawn at random. Please make sure you use a valid email address when commenting.

I love Mute Math. I fell in love with them about 2 or so years ago after, get this, discovering them on Myspace. I listened to their track “Typical” and from there was in love, bought the cd, and fast memorized every single song. My absolute favorite is “Chaos” and the lyrics “I only see you when my sight is lost” I think it’s romantic without being overly gushy. What I really love about Mute Math are their lyrics…they’re not just the broad everyday lyrics you get nowadays with a few exceptions, but when I listen to them they make me think and really appreciate the effort that was put into the making of the album.
I was so excited when I found out that they were contributing to the Twilight soundtrack…it was because of this that I went out and purchased the soundtrack the day it came out. The soundtrack gave Mute Math the chance to spread their music to SUCH a wide variety of people so that now I can share my love of the band with more people than before
Yay! I’m so excited that their new album is out! I think my favorite thing about them, besides their cool sound is that they are so quirky and unique.
LOVED the song ‘Spotlight’ in Twilight <3 perfect for that scene!
Cool a contest!
Well I like Mutemath because their song ‘Spotlight’ makes me want to get up and dance. Or walk out of a silver volvo looking cool with sunglasses.
Mutemath’s song “Spotlight” in Twilight, added so much energy to the scene. They are amazing!
For me, it is their originality that I greatly appreciate and enjoy. I had gone through an extended period of time with no interest in purchasing cd’s (one of my ‘addictions’) until hearing them on Twilight. So, now I am back on track with my love of music and listening to Mutemath most nights.
I absolutely love MuteMath! Each song is different so you can always find a song that fits your mood. Most bands have a specific genre of music that all their songs fit into but not MuteMath. I never get sick of their music….and of course, you gotta love Spotlight!
I don’t know a lot of songs by Mute Math, which would be why grabbing their CD would be great! I’d get to experience more of their music. The song Spotlight from the Twilight movie is still one of my favorites, even after almost a year. The remix adds such a great sound to the school scene, I love it!
Mute Math is probably my favorite band of all time, and I mean that honestly. I remember the day when I first found them on Myspace, and I haven’t been the same ever since. The first song I remember loving by them was “Noticed”, and it’s still my absolute favorite to this day. I think the thing with Mute Math is their energy and the passion they put into their music; you just don’t get that much anymore with music nowadays.
The day I heard Mute Math was recording a song for Twilight, of course I was estatic. In my mind, it was like they were combining two things I loved into a perfect mix, and I couldn’t be happier. Fast forward to the day I first heard “Spotlight” – more than pleased with the result.
In all, Mute Math has a sound and an energy that not many bands can match, which is one of the reasons I love them so much. I would name all the reasons why I love them, but that would be one loooong list, so I’ll leave you with this; Mute Math is inspirational, and has honestly changed the way I view music.
I love MuteMath! I was of course first tuned into them by the Twilight soundtrack and just loved it. I caught their performance on David Letterman, and they are so original and entertaining. I’m sure this cd is going to rock!!!
Mute Math is awesome! I heard them on the Twilight soundtrack, of course, but then I actually listened to their first album and now it’s one of my favorites. Their music is so unique!
Mutemath is great because they write their own stuff… and they are always striving to be original in a musical world where cookie cutter is the easy thing to do!
ahh wrong e-mail address.
There is no question that this is a band that will remind anyone why they loved music from the beginning. Mute Math possesses a collective ability to put to music the dreams of the human soul. There is a since of validation found listening to their tunes. From Typical to The Nerve, this band brings an honesty and integrity that is unrivaled in modern music. I love Mute Math because they remind me of all the reasons I fell in love with music to begin with.

I got hoooked from the twilight cd too but that doesnt mean i dont love them
i cant stop listening to them
there so fun to listen too
And if you haven’t seen them live you haven’t LIVED.
The dummer is so insane that he has to duck tape his head phones to his head. If i could marry a band, this would be the one.
It’s refreshing to find a band that doesn’t use “cookie cutter” music! Can’t wait to hear more from then.
i’ve been waiting for the new album since i got my grubby hands on the previous one! what i love about Mutemath is how their passion and energy for the music truely comes out on the record and each song takes you somewhere else.
they are a completely unique band in their music and performance and i really home they can come the UK and perform ASAP!
plus if i don’t get a copy of their new album soon i might wear out the old one from overuse!
xoxo
Its very nice to find a musical interest that is not like any other. Mutemath does this. For that, I am a fan. Love their music!
MuteMath is unique, surprising and never boring. A pleasure for the ear. A great band indeed.
I started listening to them from the twilight soundtrack. I have liked them ever since they are so different have so much energy. They remind me of everything about my now passed cousin. They are great and can t wait to see them live.
I love MuteMath! There are tons of reasons why, but one would be the tone of their songs.
Love MuteMath! The Son Lux remix of Spotlight from the Deluxe Twilight soundtrack is my favorite song on the entire album (Sorry, RPatz!)
Also, they’re from my hometown of New Orleans, LA! Gotta show them the love.
I heard a song from them for the first time maybe two years ago and after that came Twilight and Spotlight. It’s probably the best song on the soundtrack, I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of it. And… why I like MuteMath? They seem so cool to me, I saw the video of Spotlight and it was so energetic(sp?) and nice that it made me smile
I’d love to see them live some day..
I like MuteMath for the “Spotlight” song from the Twilight soundtrack. I profess to not knowing any of their other music, which is why receiving one of the copies of the CD would be great. I put “Spotlight” on my “new workout” playlist on my iPod – it is a perfect addition to my cardio music and I find that whenever I’m on the elliptical or treadmill and it comes on, I get a HUGE smile on my face. That is, of course, I think to myself…”OH. MY. GAWD!” like Angela did in the movie!
I love MuteMath! Both “Control” and “You Are Mine” are on my Midnight Sun playlist! Love their music! Can’t wait to hear this new album!
I like Mute Math because when you listen to their music you don’t know what to expect, but at the same time you do. And what I mean by that is this, they have such a unique sound that you never know what the next album/song is going to sound like, yet you know that by it being a Mute Math album you’re going to be getting variety and depth because there are so many layers to each song.
Also, their live shows are incredible! They have boundless energy that radiates off the stage, via their sweat sometimes haha, but in all seriousness you can tell that they love what they do. And most importantly you can tell that they love the people who come and listen to their music. I’ve been to shows where Paul Meany, the lead singer, has literally thrown himself into his work (crowdsurfing), and others where he pushes for audience participation by handing his homemade electronic instrument (to this day I still don’t know if it has a name) to the crowd and letting them play on it for a while. This kind of joint participation is what I know makes Mute Math different from other acts. It’s that they don’t just tell you that they love music, they show you that they love it.
I like MuteMath because they make good music that speaks to me. Its as simple as that!
MuteMath, what can I not say ! I really enjoy their music. I wasn’t a big fan of this type of music but once I listened I was hooked. I’ve tried to find shows close to where I live to no avail. I know the work that they but into this project will shine thru. Just talking a chance on trying to get some new music from the guys. They really helped me get thru a tough time after I had my son,”Control” helped me get up and do what I had to do everyday ! True songwriters are hard to find and I believe this group is a very rare breed!
I love MuteMath too and probably the biggest reasons are their originality and that to me they don’t sound like every other band out there. I hoop dance and their music is excellent to hoop to.
I love mutemath because they have such a unique sound. The lyrics to their songs have such true meaning that i can simply not deny how much i love their music.
Huge MuteMath fan…can’t wait to see them in Cinci in September!!!!
I love mutemath because they are totally unique, have wonderful lyrics, and have an overall likeable funky sound. But most of all, everytime I listen to their music I cant help but think of Twilight now, and all the reasons why I love it. Listening to mutemath just puts a smile on my face, and even on days when I am not in a great mood, I can just listen to one of their songs, think of Twilight, and I immediately feel a little happier and lighter!
I love MUTEMATH’s energy in their songs! I’ve been addicted every since I heard Spotlight.
Hey Guys!
I love Mutemath because they let their music speak for itself; they don’t sell themselves out. While their tracks are extremely and intelligently well composed, the finished songs always sounds innately effortless…hence that the math is muted! Spotlight, one of my immediate favourites on the Twilight soundtrack, along with Chaos and Typical, were all prominent on my Summer Playlist. I would love to admit that I could have found such a cool band on my own, but truthfully they are a prime example of the things Stephenie Meyer and the whole Twilight Phenomenon have inroduced to myslef, along with countless others, like only they could. I really hope that Mutemath feature on the New Moon soundtrack!
I’ll be honest I don’t know anything by MuteMath except “Spotlight.” I love the song though and I knew EXACTLY where it would be in the movie before Twilight came out and, of course, I was right. (though I’m sure lots of people could have guessed that but still it made me feel all proud and happy and stuff)
ANYWAY so I was looking at the Best Buy sales ad today and I saw their album in it and I felt a gravitational pull to go to Best Buy after work to get myself a copy…however I REALLY shouldn’t spend the money…and now I’m getting my daily Lexicon fix and I see you’re giving it away…which would make it perfect if I could win!
Love their song on the twilight soundtrack and would love to hear more!
I love mutemath. I saw them perform live last March in West Valley City Utah. They have a very unique sound but I love it.. They are different from anything I every heard.. I was excited to see that they were on the Twilight Soundtrack.. My other favorite song is Typical…
I love how catchy their songs are! Now I am going to be singing them for DAYYYSSSS!
MuteMouth is a gem of originality. Today’s radio stations play music from most artists that have a lot of corporate money behind them. MuteMouth started out modest and have EARNED their stardom. One great break is all it takes and I am SOOO glad they got theirs!
I love the MuteMouth song (Spotlight)from Twilight!
I love MuteMath, 1. because their name is MuteMath and NOT MuteMouth, and 2. because they had the most perfectly placed song in the whole movie. I love it more every time I watch the movie, I love it in my car after work, and I love it when I’m at the gym, it’s fast paced and awesome!
When I hear Spotlight, the 2nd version, and you hear the heartbeat start the song, well my heart beats a rythum of joy along with it. Mutemath are eternally great.
i fell in love when i hear spotlight twilight mix <3
I love MuteMath for being consistently relatable to Twilight. Some examples from their first album: “Noticed” (Midnight Sun, chapter “Invitations”), “Typical” (Breaking Dawn, chapter “Shiny”), and “You are Mine” (no chapter – just my own personal Ode to Edward). They’re just great! I can’t wait to hear the second album!
I like MuteMath because I like new music, and MuteMath is still new to me. The only thing I know about them is that I like the song they contributed to the Twilight soundtrack, and I’d like to hear more!
I love the energy they have together on stage. I watched them on a late show and they were awesome. They were totally into it and you could tell they were having a good time. Their video for Spotlight was also great. The fast forward motion of it was so cool to watch.
I have to say the first time I heard MuteMath was on the Twilight Soundtrack. I really liked their sound and have enjoyed their other music since–especially ‘Noticed’. I love their originality and energy. It’s fun getting to know new sounds-even though I’m a country girl at heart. I would love to hear their new CD.
I’m sure i’ve already missed the deadline for the contest which really pains me because I love Mute Math.
i can’t wait to hear this album!!!!!!!!!!
Their sound is original and not the same old stuff you hear on every radio station. I love the lyrics, the first time i heard their music i had it stuck in my head all day and had every word memorized after that. i saw them perform live on t.v. and i got so excited, i really want to see one of their concerts because they exude so much energy on stage, it’s crazy.
okay, I don’t know what time it is over in the US now, but I’ll write why I love mutemath anyway, in case there’s still time
I love mutemath because I really really like the lyrics in the songs
And I like the vocalist’s voice.
