Chris Weitz: Rotten Tomatoes Gives An Up Close Look

In today’s New Moon Monday,Jen Amato of Rotten Tomatoes takes a look at the career of the man helming New Moon, Chris Weitz.

“During our visit to the set of The Twilight Saga: New Moon, we watched from afar as director Chris Weitz ran a seemingly tidy ship. His quiet, polite mannerisms, even during take after take, and his relative expedience moving from one set up to another spoke to a sea change from the type of set Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke reportedly ran: the focused, well-mannered workman vs. the wonderfully eccentric artist. The fans will be pleased, we thought to ourselves. Weitz looks like he knows what he’s doing.”

  1. obviously these are two very different directors, Catherine did a great job on twilight and from what i’ve seen new moon is going to be awesome!!! i’m sure we wont be disappointed

  2. stephanie says:

both of these directors are great. twilight was amazing even thought i wasent too fond of that weird blue tint thing and she did miss some key parts in twilight that i thought should have been included like the blood type scene. i hope that chris weitz wont miss any key parts in new moon even if that means the movie is 4 hours long (which im praying on, i mean who would complain?lol).

  3. no offense to catherine fans but i HATE her. shes so irratating but she did a fantastic job on twilight and i love love love the blue tint thing i think it was perfect 4 it.. i will miss that in new moon! i really like chris heseems really genuine and easygoing

  4. They’re both very different in terms of how they want to tell their stories visually. In Chris’s case,he learned to be very mindful of how important it is to remain faithful to the book being adapted. Golden Compass fans were upset with him over the most minor detail,in which he changed the name of one of the ice bears from what it is in the novel. The first film was great and I think Catherine did a fantastic job introducing the world of Twilght to those that had and had not read the book. I can’t wait to see New Moon and since I’m familiar with Weitz’s style I know what to expect onscreen.
