We attended the Summer School in Forks which was your traditional non-actor-based book discussion con. We had an excellent experience. There were people from all over the world.

We attended the Flashback Weekend in Chicago that in 2009 was a Twilight/vampire theme. There were some ups and downs. The organization was great, but they weren't quite as in tune to Twilight vs. general vampires as they could have been. it was a mix of panel discussions and actors. The majority of people here were from the Chicago area.

We attended Creation's Twi-Tour in Atlanta and anticipate attending about 6 more of their events. Theirs is mostly an actor based con, but they do have panels with us, TwiMoms and others. We had an excellent experience with them. The majority of the people here were from within a five hour driving distance of Atlanta.

It should be noted in all fairness of disclosure that the Lex staff was reimbursed some expenses to be at each of those locations. We would do the first and the last without hesitation again. The second only if it were more "Twilight literate".

We felt the fees being charged at each of these to be industry standards for what customers got in return. Each event had weekend passes or just day passes if you wanted to only be there one day.

I really appreciate the lexicon feedback and stance on staying fair. But, do you think you could give (for the ones you have attended)maybe a matrix look at what each one had or a short description for comparison sake. For instance which ones were actor based, book based, or both. Which ones really draw for national participation versus traveling ones like the creation ones? It is really confusing if you have never been and can only choose one to go to. Or to even find out in time about the conventions.

Hi there,

I echo a question at the top. Are there any conventions coming to Chicago?

Great post. As more people try to make money off the series it will be harder to weed through and find the ones that are best for the fans. But, like you said, it's subjective. Some people just want to meet actors, others want discussion groups and parties, and others want to focus on the book. I admire your reasoning in #2, I wish everyone worked that way!
