It seems The Used are currently working on their contribution to the New Moon Soundtrack which will be released on October 13th according to information given at Comic Con. You can follow The Used on Twitter at WeAreTheUsed. Thanks to Marianna for the heads up!!

Whoa, didn’t know they would be adding to the New Moon soundtrack – I think this could be a really good boost for the movie. Like how Paramore’s “Decode” made the music of Twilight more eye catching. Big names tend to do that. Not to mention, The Used’s grudge/rock type genre will go well with New Moon’s aura.
Ok, that’s a REALLY weird Tweet, but I love The Used… So I’m not really sure what to think. But, they always seemed a little off-beat.

I hope I’m not the only one who’s psyched out of my mind about some of the names I’ve seen connected to the New Moon movie sound track. I fell in love with the Twilight series about a year ago and have since felt the need to defend this love among my twenty/thirty-something peers. I have full confidence that this second film and artists like The Used will lend much deserved credibility to the series. BIG THANKS to The Used. I’ve been a fan for years.

okay fan of all music.But maybe they need something fun.Twilight sound track to me had all kinds of music but now i feel that they are only picking one kind of musical genre.I mean i know that they are not gonna put duran durans hungry like the wolf on but mix it up.I mean no offense but everyone is not part of the emo/goth community that likes the twilight saga.Some of us are happy vamps and warm sunny wolves lol..
yeah i see ur point but the things is that new moon is not really a happy-go-lucky story so i’m really happy that they are sticking with the storyline even in the soundtrack
I understand your point too, I love pop and rnb myself and doesn’t listen to goth at all and i have just like 3 of 50 songs in pure rock on my list. But as lc commented, it isn’t a sunny story, it’s hard and sad feelings for Bella in New moon. But hey, they’re probably going to have something happy/rnb song for the reunited-part:) They can’t have rock/goth there!
i haven’t heard about the used at all before this. It seems (notice the word seems) that some of you a prejudiced about them (much like people here in norway are on Tokio hotel, doesn’t blame them on that but 1 song is nice [before you complain i almost puked when i saw the music vid]).
Back to subject, I think the song is nice and fits the feel of the movie nicely. (notice the word song? good. Fake lashes does NOT work for guys, and the outfits are hiddeous].) For those of you who complain, maybe you’re sick of the band, but is the song really that wrong? I think it’s cool and I’m happy with their choice. It fits. Just hope the Used will have some respect for NEW MOON – notice the two words, not twilight 2, please. Ugh. But again, nice song. Putting this on my spotify playlist:)

The music on this sound track needs to be more like this.. It compliments the depression that Bella is in. Also I think that while Jacob is upbeat at first it will really work when he realizes what he is.. This soundtrack will be perfect. You will love the finished product once you see it in context I think…

i’m not really excited about this. i liked the used when i was in 8th grade, but i’ve moved on. i’m now in college and i think there are so many other, better artists out there! if only i had the power to do something about it. ha.

agreed. I know not everyone will be happy to hear this, but this whole genre (ie: fall out boy/ the used)are not screaming New Moon for me. Very Jr. High. I was hopeing for something more along the lines of Band of Horses or the Shins. and Twilight 2? Give me a break. Is that guy Taylor Hansen in a black wig? I’m sad to see, that they seem to be picking songs to suit only the 9 – 13 year old crowd. Hopefully the movie wont be geared the same way. I’ll give ‘em a solid chance, but they might be the Perry Ferral of the “T2″ sound track.

yay! i love the used. i don’t think they’re using all that i’ve got for their contribution though, i think the lexicon just put it on here so people who’ve never heard of them could get a taste of what their music is like. i think they’re gonna be like paramore and record a new song for the soundtrack.

I hadn’t heard of The Used before, but after listening to some of their songs on iTunes, and watching the music video, I actually think they’ll be just perfect for the sountrack!

Its supposed to be a mixture of different types of sounds and artists people. Why are we always so quick to judge and complain and nit pick about every little microscopic detail. If those are the singers and bands that the director and cast and crew suggested cuz thats what they like to listen to then thats what its going to be you cant please every last person in the world! Let it be! Just enjoy the ride folks its not the end of the world if you dont get your way.

MMMM… nothing against it, but it’s not my cup of tea… too, too… “highish”? I don’t know. There a lot of bands not-so-known out there with awesome songs… let’s just hope that they will do a nice choice… shall we?

The Used is great. The pacing of their songs…it has a sort of weird, dream-you-have-when-you’re-sick feel to it. It’s a bit weird, a bit non-sensical, but not unpleasant. Great choice for New Moon.
It kind of pisses me off when people use the phrase “real fans”. All he said was Twilight 2, as in a sequel, as in the second movie. As for clumping The Used in with Fall Out Boy clearly you don’t notice the subtle differences in their tone or word choice. If you want hear a “mature” song from The Used to suit you’re holier-than-thou, musical taste try listening to Blue and Yellow. As for me I think the Used would be an awesome addition. After all New Moon is the darkest chapter in the Twilight saga and The Used can be very dark. And yes they can have a rock song for the reunion of Edward and Bella.
.. Did someone really compare The Used to “Fall out Boy?” and the “Emo” genre??? Bahahahahaha…. I’m guessing you’ve never actually purchased and listened to a Used album…. Bert McCracken is one the of the best lyrically talented people out there… And a BIG plus is there are from Orem,Utah! YAY for Utah fans!!!
