According to MTV:
“On September 13, the MTV Video Music Awards will return home to New York City, taking over spots all around the Big Apple, including the iconic Radio City Music Hall. Outrageous Brit Russell Brand will once again be serving as the emcee, and the show will feature high-powered performances from the likes of Taylor Swift and Muse.”
Muse has long been the band that has dominated Stephenie Meyer’s unofficial playlists. In fact, in Breaking Dawn, she thanked Muse for being her muse.
The question is, given what happened the last time Russell Brand hosted a show for MTV, are fans going to tune in to watch? You need a score card to keep track of the people Brand POed last time from the Jonas Brothers, Jordan Sparks, Twilight fans, etc. The LA times possibly said it best, “The 2008 VMAs were poised to mark the return of Britney Spears. Instead, they will go down in history as the night when that English guy from Forgetting Sarah Marshall almost made the Jonas Brothers cry.”

I won’t be watching…the guy is flaky. Not to offend his fans, to each their own.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME! I was so excited about Muse being there but then MTV has to go and ruin it by bringing Brand back as a host! I’ll still be watching but I’ll be completely IGNORING EVERYTHING he says.
The thing that bothers me the most about him returning is that he will be RUINING Bella’s birthday. I wish that they’d have Andy Samberg back; he’s actually funny and knows when it’s time to cut his hair and shave.
Muse I’m happy about. Brand not so much. There has to be someone else to do it.
i think that i am the only one here who is looking forward to russell brand!! lol..it’s ok..im actually really looking forward to seeing Muse..I have never heard of them till i saw twiligh..they truly are an inspiring band!! i definetly will be watching the vma’s
I have been SO excited for Muse ever since I found out they were playing there! Their new album comes out the next day, on the 14th! But why must Brand be there!? God, he’ll ruin it like last year! Oh well, I’ll still watch, but ignore Brand this time.
Russell Brand is hilarious, and I’m just sad that people were too uptight to enjoy his humor last time. I’m so excited he’s coming back
Muse is great. that other dude is lame and obnoxious. Talk about trying too hard to make people laugh…
I hate Russell Brand. He’s an idiot.
Russell Brand again? Really? Ugh. Whatever- I’m excited about Muse performing=) Maybe they will outweigh his bad hosting skills…
I think he was a jerk last time.
However, when I saw Bedtime Stories I quite liked his performance.
I’ll watch for Muse’s performance alone. I wonder what they’ll be performing? I’m dying for a new Muse album. They are so fantastic! Too bad they couldn’t get a different host, though. He was pretty annoying the first time.
Their album comes out the next day.
Haven’t they learned their lesson??? Getting Russell as their Emcee again is just almost asking for suicide…
Why is that freak being allowed to come back? He clearly can’t host an awards show! I’ll watch for MUSE but MTV will get a comment from me for sure.
I’m only watching this because of Muse.I love Muse!Their music is amazing.I listen to them everyday.I can’t wait their new ablum comes out the day after.
I’ll probably be seeing it online, no cable. As for Brand, th guys an idiot. I can stand hi political jokes but everything else, he’s just plain vulgar.
sorry for the typos I meant, the guy’s an idiot and his*
Muse, yes! Russell Brand? Blech! Jim Carrey would be so much better.
Eh Brand can be funny, but mostly lame. If he starts saying really obnoxious crap, I’ll just mute him through the award show. I’m definitely watching, because of MUSE and I’m sure that by September, MTV will be showing some exclusive New Moon stuff for sure. So really, it’s a no brainer. It’s all about whether Brand gets volume on my tv.
I’m not going to watch, even if they premiere a new trailer.
