I don’t know why, but for some reason the picture looks photoshopped to me. I believe it’s the genuine picture and everything…..but something about the neck/collar area gives it a photoshop feeling. Is it just me?
I agree but most photos are photoshop’d anymore. If you search online you can see more of the actors photos and they all look that way.

I’m having a hard time typing this since all I want to do is stare at his picture. And frankly, I don’t care if he screws up Sokka’s part (which I’m sure he won’t), as long as I get to look at him for a couple hours. *Sigh*

I just can’t see him as Sokka…a white guy :/ I sure hope the movie does Avatar justice though. It’s one of my fave anime/cartoons. Jackson looks good though. But I just can’t see it >_< Damn Hollywood and their not using Asian actors.

first of all IM A BIG FAN OF AVATAR! and when i saw this i was shocked. sokka is portrayed as a funny smart guy but when i saw jackson as him i couldnt believe it. (not that his not a great actor or anything) sokka’s character is not for him. my say on the overall casting for the AVATAR film is bad.
I think he’s a good actor… He could pull off being funny and goofy and serious when need be. If you remember how animated he was when he was on Disney 411 waaay back when, you could see that he’ll deliver as Sokka.
not only was he a fair mix of funny and serious on disney 411, but if you’ve seen the behind the scenes stuff from twilight he was still something of a goof when he wasn’t supposed to be the ultra-serious jasper (in between takes and such)…

I used to watch that TV show when I was younger.I do want to go see it though only because Jackson’s in it.He does look really nice in that picture!His eyes are so gorg.
I have to admit, when I heard Rathbone was going to be playing in the Avatar movie, I cracked up laughing. After seeing him play a serious vampire, it’s weird to have him play a goofy guy.
But he looks good! I just wish he didn’t look so serious in the pic…

If you think his eyes and lips are incredible in this picture you should see them up close and in person….sigh!
As far as the acting like Sokka, I have total faith in Jackson to pull this off. Has anyone seen Senior Skip Day? He was a complete goof ball in that and did a FABULOUS job. And if you’ve had the pleasure of seeing him perform with 100 Monkeys, you know how off the wall he can be. So I actually see Sokka as a good fit for him.
Yes I agree the jacket should be blue and the casting wasn’t the greatest for this movie. It does annoy me when they can’t get the little things correct because it does lead you to think that the really important parts of the plot/storyline might be wrong as well. But I’m crossing my fingers that it will all work out.
Can’t wait to see him play the goofy Sokka! He looks to the part so well, and it will be interesting to see how he acts.
Oh, and nothing against Dev Patel, but does anyone else think that maybe someone else should have been cast as Zuko? I just don’t see it. Actually, I could really see Taylor Lautner in that part. His martial arts background and recent experience with playing a more emotionally intense role would probably have enabled him to be great in the part of angry, confused, fire bending Zuko. Plus I think he just looks the part more than Dev Patel does. Eh, oh well. I’m sure Airbender will be great anyway!
Personally, from what I’ve seen of his acting abilities on Slumdog Millionaire, I think that Dev Patel will make a great Zuko, and he looks much more the part than Taylor Lautner. Taylor looks absolutely nothing like him.
