Edward depended on Jacob a lot during this time. Jacob was the look-out for Sam’s pack, knowing they wanted to destroy the “thing” that Bella was carrying. Edward had asked Jacob to talk Bella into aborting it because it was killing her. Jacob kept Bella warm as her body temperature fluctuated during the final days. Jacob could provide that friendship that Edward couldn’t. Then, Edward asked the ultimate of Jacob, pushing Jake to the edge…as the rightful heir of Ephraim Black, Jake was the real Alpha; Edward asked his permission to save Bella and turn her and NOT break the treaty. That was all that Jacob had left to give Bella.

I love all of the chapter titles in Jacob’s book. Bella’s are all one word and melodramatic, but Jacob tells you how he really feels with his titles and I love that!
