Justin Guarini Wants In On Soundtrack

Justin Guarini of American Idol fame has a song that he has specifically written for New Moon and hopes to catch the attention of Summit and Stephenie and have it on there. TY to multiple people.

“Here’s a song that Tammy Hyler, Shaye Smith, and I wrote specifically for “New Moon”. I’ve set it to some stills, and slapped my vocals on it. If you like it, make sure to spread the word and ask Stephenie Meyer to put it on the soundtrack – JG”

What do you think?

  1. hesperia says:

This song is horrible!!!! I would much rather see ‘Bleed’ by aaron Galbreath on the soundtrack. It fits the mood of the book and also captures the pain and agony of the book perfectly. Gives me chills everytime I hear it!

Justin is just someone else trying to jump on the bandwagon..he needs to face up to reality, he just doesn’t cut it!

  2. lola says:

the song is not dark enough.hes a good singer, love the lyrics..

i really wanted to say i hated it but i cant it was okay

  3. Jenna says:

I like it. Personally I think for anyone who can do that, that is awesome. I thought it was pretty good though.

  4. Sam says:

I like the song. I think it is very good. HOWEVER, I don’t like the fact that the only reason they did this was that they could get more attention. I mean, seriously. it’s NEW MOON the sequel to TWILIGHT, everyone wants in. Though I think it would make a nice add to the soundtrack.

  5. Kevin says:

Thanks but no thanks. I tried and failed to like this song. The lyrics were fairly mediocre at best and it wasn’t in any way memorable. It sounds to similar too Paramore’s Decode (a much better song) and it seems as if it was written with the intention of a popularity boost for Justin which I think is cheap and unfair.
I hope this doesn’t make it on to the soundtrack (along with the 500 million other artists looking to get on)!

  6. TwilightJunkie says:

I really liked the song. I think it deserves a chance to be on the Soundtrack. The words and mood are perfect for New Moon. I felt sad after listening to it, which is how i felt after reading the book, and unless they change up too much, will probably feel the same way after the movie ends. I don’t know what other songs they’re looking at, but in my opinion it is worth considering. I don’t even remember who Justin Guarini is, so my opinion has no bearing on that at all. To me, it’s actually a great song.

  7. Billie says:

I totally agree with #45! You can’t just take words straight from the book. It’s just way to dorky that way. Of course it “goes with the book” because it is the book! Duh… No, the song’s kinda lame, and yeah, too pop-py, yes, like a Decode rip-off. Do not put it on the soundtrack, powers that be!

  8. Kellie says:

I dont like it – its way too cheesy!

  9. melissa says:

I kind of liked it. Maybe not dark enough (but remember there are some happy moments in New Moon) and I do have to agree that he has read the book and taken some lines right out of it. That being said, if it were to be put on the soundtrack, it would be placed appropriately and it would work – that is the job of the people who pick the music.
I had never listened to anyone that was on the Twilight soundtrack before the movie and now I LOVE all of it.
I think we mostly need to take a deep breath and realize we have no control over what happens and have faith that it will be good :)

  10. chris says:

    I liked it.

  11. Cecilia says:

    Eh. No.
Along with the fact that the minute I saw this, he was trying to latch onto something popular and propel his nasty afro-ed self back into the spotlight. And I agree that it isn’t nearly “dark” enough, but I also was hoping they’d go for something eerie and/or a little haunting. Like “White Chalk” by PJ Harvey, which is beautiful, sad and gives you the chills, like you’re listening to a ghost.
Now THAT is something I would stand behind.

  12. Ally says:

I like the song but I don’t think itwould be right fo New Moon. You can tell he poured ver the twilight soundtrack and took bits and peices to create his own song so it would have the right “feel”. But listening to the song I was thinking about where they would put it in the movie, and obviously the book is all I have to go on. There are a few spots it could fit in but wouldn’t make a whole lot of since. Just another, whats the new word, Twannabe?

  13. Ellehcim17 says:

Justin Guarini, you are a good singer but stay away from commercial songs, you repeated too much the same thing. If you wanna do something good for New Moon, change the song (experiment with it and don’t repeat to much, listen the Twilight soundtrack) or stay away from it (the best choice). Yeah, stay away from New Moon or any Twilight Saga Movies.

  14. Keli says:

It wasn’t bad – music needs to be darker sounding…more bass, drums, etc.

  15. gabby says:

I though I was going to like it, because I really liked the intro sounds. It kinda ruined it when he started singing. I really dont like it at all, and I dont think i would be good for New Moon.

(Gah, I sound terribly mean. xD)

  16. Mel D says:

Absolutely not. Even though the song isn’t terrible, Justin Guarini is way to bubble gummy for the Twilight Saga. They need to stay with the indie, lesser known artists. The voices that aren’t quite perfect add to the whole mood of the movies. Take Twilight’s soundtrack and use it as a base for New Moon.

  17. Miss T says:

Songs on the New Moon soundtrack should be complex and thought provoking…like poetry. This song is too simplistic. I think JG underestimated his target audience (a tad insulting). He would be great on a kid’s show at about 10 in the morning….and I’m not trying to be mean, he’s kind of a nice, happy and clownish kind of guy and he could write his own music and sing in a little circle of preschoolers.

  18. bcmtx says:

This isn’t a bad song. I can imagine it playing on the radio someday, but I don’t think it would suit the New Moon soundtrack very well.

  19. Confessions says:

A big no thanks to Justin. Just seems to me another person trying to cash in on the Twilight franchise. The song is cliche and it’s not that good. sorry.

  20. polonios says:

I think that Trading Yesterday has a song that would go great with this soundtrack. The song’s name is ‘Just a Little Girl’ and the chorus and 2nd verse are as follows:
    [Chorus]
‘Cause all of this is all that I can take
And you could never understand the demons that I faced
So go ahead and bat your eyes and lie right to the world
    For what everything you are
    Your just a little girl

    [Verse 2]
I never meant for you to feel this way
The Decembers were never meant to be our graves
It’s not a question of who was wrong and what is right
But time cannot heal what you will never recognize

It would be great if Summit could get to hear this song for the soundtrack! Pass it on to other Twilight forums – make it happen!

  21. It seems pretty desperate for an artist to make a YouTube video with a bunch of random photographs of the characters and beg fans to pass on the word if they like it.

    That being said…

It isn’t HORRIBLE. But, like most of you think, it just doesn’t cut it for New Moon. For New Moon I think of raw rock songs filled with emotion. It MIGHT be okay for the credits. I really feel bad for the guy because his voice really is beautiful. His career is going nowhere. So he makes a desperate attempt to latch on to the next big thing. Maybe he should just go to reality TV or something.

  22. Chrystina says:

Everyone is such a Simon… I’ll be Paula “Good try Justin, you gave it your all, it just wasn’t working for me…but you looked cute doing it.” :)

I’m not a fan of this song, so it doesn’t get my vote.

  23. Ash says:

I’m thinking it’s a not so subtle plea to help him jump on the Twilight Riches Bandwagon. That said….it wasn’t horrible. Forget “dark enough”. I’m thinking it might actually be a decent song for tracking shots of Alice and Bella driving to find Edward in Volterra. Alice drives fast alright but I feel like that scene should have a song that gives you this “Hurry up. Are we there yet?” anxious feeling. Bella’s mindset for the drive maybe?

    • Mallory says:

I’m not sure if I really love this song. The music is good, but the lyrics… I guess I could it as a possibility for the trip to Volterra.

      • Yami says:

I agree, I just commented on #18. I think this would fit in the trip to Volterra-can’t believe I misspelled it earlier, lol. But it would fit a lot better for Edwards trip to Volterra, if they put that in the movie. Kinda like a race against time, back and forth between Alice and Bella on their way, Edward a bit ahead of them on his own way, as well type of thing. That would be pretty cool.

        • Ellehcim17 says:

Stephenie use for inspiration “Time is running out” – Muse, for the trip to Volterra, so I really think is the best song for it.

  24. foxbite2 says:

geez.. who doesn’t want to be a part of the twilight saga movies?

  25. Sara says:

I think a few of the lyrics fit…but it is just too generic to be a part of something so wonderful. It sounds like everything else that every male pop singer puts out…the best thing about the first soundtrack is that it was so much alternative…I would be depressed if New Moon went all main stream

  26. Mary says:

STINKS!!! Doesn’t even sound right for twilight.

    • Emily says:

first of all it is not meant for twilight its meant for new moon dimwitt and compared to “never think” this song was sooo amazing if you had a wider range of musical appreciation then maybe you would have half a brain atleast and realize the books are not just meant for people who like punk and rock and metal music so maybe instaed of being prejudice of the guy you’ll actually get the gist of the music and not be ignorant along with everybody else who agrees with you thank you.

      • Angela says:

disliking a song for its lack of originality, poor production, lame vocals and just generally being mundane does not make people ignorant. it means they know what they like and are able to express it

  27. Lindsay says:

it’s not haunting enough. i didn’t FEEL or believe the lyrics. it sounded as if they were just being said.

  28. Jessica says:

    Awful.

  29. Shelly says:

I’m torn, because he DID take the time to write this song, but then again so did Mitch Hansen and the Bella Cullen Project etc. So I think I would say No. Just because he is definitely mainstream. And New Moon (despite all the teeny boppers) I don’t think should be shot like mainstream, nor should the soundtrack be. It’d be extremely disappointing. This series is unique, and it should be treated as so.

  30. Leah says:

I really like the song, but it’s not OK for New Moon.

  31. Saffron Sunset says:

I don’t remember him from American Idol, but this song is really growing on me! Thanks for posting it. :)

  32. M.P. says:

UGH!!!! Is it there something that this people wouldn’t do to be on the soundtrack? I should say: Ok, well done for your “hard work”… but no thanks!!! I can’t feel the lyrics, and its even worse when he starts to sing… dreaful!!!! Sorry, this song doesn’t fit even for final credits. I’ve read the other comments and agree, it must to be something dark, painful, heartbroken. And I think Gothic Metal would do a pretty good job, there are a lot of not so known bands with wonderful lyrics, kind of music that give u shiver.

  33. MRK says:

I like the lyrics and the song…but I don’t think his voice is strong enough…someone else should sing it.

  34. Stef V says:

No offence to J.G. but i don’t like his singing. However, i do like the lyrics. i betcha if someone with a raspy.. more rocking voice that has the ability to give the listener goose bumps.. it would be a hit. Just my lil nobody opinion. Oh.. the band Staind comes to mind for singing it. They have a way of making everyone in a room feel exactly what he’s singing.

  35. Twilight Nymph says:

Okay I’m on the see-saw right now, i like it and don’t, Justin’s singing doesn’t convince me and the lyrics are hard to hear. I don’t know about this one. =/

  36. Beth says:

    meh….

  37. Hali says:

Not a big Justin fan, but I like it. I think it’d be good for the build up before Bella cliff dives or for the race to the alley as Bella is running and Edward is approaching the sun.

    • Yami says:

I disagree, this song would be more for Edward than Bella. Like I told #18 and #73′s first commenter-Mallory. This would be good for Edward’s race to end his life.

  38. Emily says:

OMG I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SONG AND I CAN PICTURE EDWARD SINGING IT i can’t believe people are so prejudice of him bcuz of his american idol history this song NEEDS TO BE ON THE NEW MOON SOUNDTRACK and not anybody can write lyrics even if they aren’t that great and also ROB PATTENSON’S song SUCKED he can’t sing and his lyrics were horrible what the hell was the director thinking putting that song on so really compared to never think this song is ASTRONOMICALLY OUT OF THIS WORLD AMAZING

    • Amanda says:

I actually liked this son bu I think they need to have someone else sing it like I don’t know….ROB PATTINSON. His singing is so moving. I think he could pull it off…make it fit the mood. Definetly needs to be when Edward is seperated from Bella.

      • Krystal says:

Amanda you definitely hit the nail on the head with this comment. I could sooo see Rob singing this song. Especially an acoustic version and maybe drop it down an octave.

  39. Rose says:

lyrics are okay. the voice… not so much. Way too mainstream for the movie. It didn’t affect me in any way, the way the soundtrack for Twilight did. This just sounded like a generic song with some New Moon lyrics slapped on.

  40. Heather says:

i only listened through the first chorus.
    but it was alright.
    i kinda liked it.
everything was pretty good, but not excellent…

  41. morg says:

omj wow this is actually pretty good…dnt noe abt him tho. deff not for the soundtrack tho well i can kinda see a little part of lk were bella is abt to jump (of the cliff) and she is having memories then lk show her slowley falling. then go straight to when she wakes then it stops…srry ha jst blabbing on here but i coudl see that:)

    • Yami says:

You’re the second person that mentions this song for Bella’s cliff diving scene. People remember that Bella’s cliff diving was for her to pump her adrenaline to get her fix of Edward’s voice. It wasn’t really a . . “oh, Edward, I can’t live without you any longer, so I want to die”, type of moment. Once she is in the water is when she realizes that she may die and decides not to stop-what she thinks is the inevitable , but that was never the intention behind the dive in the first place. As well as the fact that she never die’s. I still think that this song would be perfect for Edward’s journey to Volterra. It just speaks, Edward’s feelings at that moment in time.

    • Yami says:

I have left a few of my comments around here, somewhere. My overall opinion is that the song is pretty good. The song would fit perfectly for Edward’s trip to Volterra, while he is thinking of ways to get himself killed. I am sure on his journey-if portrayed in the movie, he would have a lot of time to think of Bella, her scent, her kisses, the taste of her blood, her face, her feel, what he lived with her, then just as quick they cut to his memories of his last moments with her. When he left, what he said to her, the way she looked as she was letting his words sink in. The broken hearts of them both. How she believed the lie he fed her, so quickly. Then the fact that-he thinks, Bella is dead, just when he was about to give in and stop by to check up on her. The fact that she will no longer be, to see, to smell. . . Well you all get the idea! How Alice said it in the book “Edward didn’t expect to out last or out live you, Bella.”-I’m paraphrasing here. I can’t see this song fitting into the part in the book where Edward is in the alley about to step out into the light. Another song would be better for it. Bella is also in the scene and whatever song would go best with that part has to fit both Edward and Bella at that moment. The seconds before the Edward steps out, Bella racing across the sea of people, tears in her eyes, blood pumping through her, screaming for Edward to stop, not to do it. . . His giving up and Her not wanting him to. For Bella for the first time- she would feel, to save Edward, to actually make a dent in this mission to succeed. Racing against time for them all. I agree with many writing a song can’t be easy, if you accomplish that well, kudos for you. Every writer-books or songs need inspiration, something to draw out their creativity and talent. A motivation if you will. If the lines from the book were necessary, than so be it. Just as long as the person has the permission to use it-I guess, and as long as the person can make it work, even better. All I know is that I can’t wait to see New Moon. I have been making plans for this movie since Twilight came out and it was confirmed that New Moon would be made. OMG!!!!! Can’t wait!!!

  42. LIZ says:

This song is SO perfect for new moon, i hope he finds a way to get it on the soundtrack. i love it !!

  43. Lindsey says:

ughh…not so much…sorry. This probably might not make sense but to me the lyrics are just too specific for the movie.

  44. Holly says:

I love the song. I think it is the perfect embodiment of New Moon. If they put this song at some really emotional part of the story, like when Bella jumps off the cliff, or when Edward is about to walk out into the sunshine in Italy, the song would be absolutely amazing!

    Holly:D

  45. spunkranDom says:

definitely not living it. way too literal. it took lines right out of the book and i guess that’s ok when executed right but making it the central theme throughout a song just seems too cliche and commercial

  46. Meghan says:

I hate this song. It sounds stupid and way to “commercial”. It is too literal and I like songs that are more metaphorical.

  47. Lulu says:

Hey, I actually like this… Yeah, it should be a bit darker, but I think it’s good. At least the lyrics actually capture some of the story. Some songs from the Twilight soundtrack weren’t exactly true to the story in my opinion.

  48. Mimi says:

Okay, so the sound is AWESOME! The opening music caught my attention. The music is great however Justin’s voice ehhhhhh not so much. rofl. As soon as he started singing he totally butchered the music. So I say, give the music to someone else! A better singer, let him/she clean up the lyrics and BAM! You have a hit, lol.

Is there an instrumental version, lol?

  49. Lucy says:

oh thank god i’m not the only one who think this song is just….bleh. Has he even read New Moon, or does he just want attention by having one of his songs in this movie, hoping that all twilight fans will run out and by his cds?

  50. Drea says:

    I hate it :(
