Drew Barrymore talked to MTV about how Eclipse was the job that got away.
“Oh, I wish that I was! I adore that project and I adore the team that’s making it. And I am very honored to now be a director and going up for other movies and being offered other movies as a director. I’m now an actor/producer/director! How lucky am I!”

Nah, I don’t think I want her as a director for Eclipse. Not that I have anything against her, but, yeah….

she has good tastes, she was a producer on Donnie Darko, one of my favorite movies, if i’m not mistaken… but i think Eclipse would be a bit too ambitious for her so fresh out as a director.
WHEW! I can not express my relief too strongly. I suppose there could be someone who would be worse in my mind, but I can’t bring that name to mind.

Erm… I wasn’t too hot on her as a director. Just because she doesn’t have much directing experience and Eclipse is going to be huge. She a good actress and producer, but I think this would be too much for someone who only has one directing credit (thus far… and it’s not even out yet) under her belt. But good luck in the future Drew!
i really like her, but eclipse is my favorite book and i have such high expectations for the movie. I haven’t seen enough of her movies to know if she’s up to it. I just want a director that will live up to my expectations… that might be too much to ask for. i don’t know! i hope she has a good future with directing!
I love Drew but I believe she’s not quite ready for such a grand job at her stage in directoring. I know she will do well in the furure and I wish her the best of luck in her new projects.
I have to agree.. I’m a huge fan of hers, but did not want to see her directing Eclipse.. she doesn’t have enough experience.

She’s an okay actress but I’m sooo relieved that she’s no longer in the running for Eclipse director.

I don’t know, I’ve always loved her actress. It may have been interesting to see what she is capable of. I don’t think we know enough to make any judgements.
The fans are expecting greatness, Eclipse needs a director with directing experience. I like her as an actor and producing is not directing. Good Luck Drew.
Let me clarify, I don’t wish her any ill. I just think she is wrong in every way for Eclipse, or Breaking Dawn as well.
Both of those books are enormous. Not only in a huge book, but the storyline in each encompasses so much. Especially to established fans, there are many, many crucial scenes and transitions to the overall story of Bella and Edward that happen in both books.
An experienced director is crucial, especially with CGI experience, but not limited to that.
I dont care who directs it, aslong as they are passionate about the story. I dont care if it is Vanessa Hudgens if she loves the story, because the story is what maters.
I didn’t know Drew was a director. What else beside Donny Darko has she directed?

I don’t think she should direct it because she has only had some much experiance in directing movies and the book is so bigg i mean not in that way but as in a common way ( if u no what i mean )……. She has only directed what 1 movie she shouldn’t direct Eclipse Nor should she direct Breaking Dawn, They both are very good books and she may ruein them if she directs i mean not that i’m dissin her i lik her and stuff but she just hasn’t had that kind of experiance
I HOPE DREW ISN’T DIRECTOR OF THE NEXT MOVIE OF TWILIGHT SAGA. I LIKE HER AS ACTOR BUT I AM NOT TOO SURE ABOUT DIRECTOR. WITH A LITTLE MORE EXPERIENCE MAYBE. BUT, I HOPE THEY PICK A GOOD ONE THAT WILL GIVE MORE ROMANCE AND DRAMA TO THE FILM(LIKE THE BOOK HAS).
I like Drew and all, so I don’t want to be nitpicky here, but it kind of bothered me that she used the word “project” anyway. To the fans, it’s not a “project” its a story and we need a director who sees it as that. Maybe I’m overanalyzing it as always, but this is the whole reason why the phenomenon of EVERYONE in Hollywood wanting to get on board is so taxing… It’s turning into a “machine” that people want to be associated with when a year ago, hardly anyone but the fans really cared.
i think she will be great she’ll bring the romance and the action.

It wouldn’t surprise me if they got the Spanish director they were talking about before because Rosalie and Jasper’s back stories are like little horror movies and other elements of the story in Eclipse would lend themselves to the same kind of treatment.
honestly i’m sick of drew barrymore. just because you SAY you are a director doesn’t mean you ARE one! has she even directed anything? a large-scale project like Eclipse requires someone with more experience and knowledge of directing. drew doesn’t have it.

Thank God!!! Summit better NOT mess up Eclipse!!! It’s my favorite book. Equal parts Jacob and Edward and the LOVE TRIANGLE at it’s steamiest!!!
They better hire a good director, as it is I feel like they’re rushing into Eclipse so much. I hope they extend that June 2010 opening date. Seriously, i can’t wait for it because it’s my favorite but I’m willing to wait for a great movie! Not a rushed one with a rookie director. So I’m glad it’s not Drew!
