UK Actor Jamie Campbell-Bower is slated to play Caius according to an exclusive on the BBC. Americans will most likely remember him as Anthony (the sailor who is the love interest of Joanna) in Sweeney Todd co-starring Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham-Carter.
According to the BBC:
“I do know who else will be in it – but I can’t tell you, unfortunately.
“But go online and have a look at the rumours,” he said, then added: “They’re all false. You’re putting me in a terrible situation.”

I had to take a second look at the part he was playing. I was like oh hes a great Alec, and then I was like wait, Cauis, what?
Andie..Yea they can do alot with make-up wicjh i HOPE they use on Taylor casue he still looks to me like a 15 year old who just bulked up over the summer or somthing.I do like him but he just looks so young. As for this guy..Jaime..There is a difference in making him look older or ancient like described in the book. What are they going to do i wonder. He is oviously young so are they just going to make his eyes filmy like desrcribed in the book and look vampirish but like a young ancient vampire? hmmm dont know. I think people just thought he was oler cause he is described with White hair,isn’t he? I just think it’s lame if to choose someone younger if they were going to use a bunch of makeup or cgi to make him look older(not ancient) why not just find someone older for the role then? It doesnt make sense. As for me i Personally dont like the choice to much but i will see what he brings to the movie.He still looks like he would make a better Jane’s Twin.
Caius is the white-haired Volturi!! This guy would be better suited for Alec. Caius needs to be older. While it’s true that SM never talks about how old the Volturi were when changed, I always imagined Aro and Marcus as being in their 30s, maybe 40s. I’d like to see Derek Jacobi as Caius. He was Gracchus in Gladiator and he’s who I picture when I think Caius.
Just cause this guy is young doesnt mean that the WHOLE volturi will be.Maybe Aro and Marcus will be older. I don’t understand why they couldnt do that. They can be all differnt ages.I just hope they don’t ALL look like they were turned when they were so young.

Hmmm I looked it up in New Moon and the first time they mention Caius all it says is “The other had a shock of snow-white hair the same shade as his face that brushed against his shoulders. Their faces had identical, paper-thin skin.” So I always figured him for an old man when he was changed too. Oh well they can do a lot with makeup. But maybe he is cast as Alex Jane’s twin?

Also, it seems it’s time for a REALITY CHECK:
1. It doesn’t matter what Caius (or any character) looks like in your head. The movie is not in your head, and you are not the casting director.
2. Caius’ defining attribute is not his hair, or his age, but the fact that he is a huge jerk. All the actor has to do is scowl and say mean things.
I think the New Moon cast is great so far. I’m really happy with this choice, seems very promising, and the actress who was picked to play Heidi. Can’t wait to see the rest.
I think this is just fine. I’m not going to freak out over this or any other casting because they will look totally different in the movie. Not everyone is going to picture Caius the same way. The cast was perfect in Twilight and it will be in New Moon and the others. I trust what Summit is doing.

Lomiser22..I understand the reality check thing BUT also Realtiy check time again is that I think the reason why most people are feaking a bit is because the Volturi looked older in i would think 99% of the people who read the series..NOT just 1 or 2 people. I think MOST of us pictured them older AND ancient looking so I can understand why poeple are a bit upset.I will see how it turns out though.

Do you actually think the age of a minor actor for a minor part that is in ONE scene and might have a line is really all that important?
I don’t care how he looks, that’s what hair, makeup, and maybe some CG is for. As long as the boy can act, that’s all that should matter. I’m sick and tired of people saying this person should be in the movie because the look the part. It’s the acting that’s going to make the movie good.
Okay, I was surprised. Like others, I always assumed Caius was much older partly because he had white hair.
But…like with Twilight I think of the movie as separate from the book, and this is one thing in a long list of things that will be changed. I don’t understand why it is necessary mess around with all the ages of the Volturi but it certainly won’t ruin my enjoyment of the film. I’m sure he is a fantastic actor, otherwise they wouldn’t have picked him

^I agree Alice, it’s refreshing to get news first for a change! I thought the BBC might forget about Twilight after the surprise (well for them) of the numbers at the premiere had died down. I was actually distracted by the comments so I forgot to click on the link…lol.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who pictures Caius as not looking this young. I know vampires don’t age but even Carlisle doesn’t look like a kid. I’m willing to go with it but it is 100% not what is in my head.

I always saw Caius somewhere along the line of Carlisle’s age if not older. I think Jamie is better suited for Alec.
Don’t worry about the age thing people, I remember when I first saw a picture of Jackson Rathbone I thought he looked like he was twelve.
I am so disappointed! Feeling like a 25yr old child throwing a fit cuz I almost don’t want to watch the movie now as it won’t be even close to what I had pictured lol. He should be older! Bella says ‘Man’ not ‘Boy’! She also says “the white-haired ancient vampire…” Ancient means old! Bah.
Their papery skin was due to their lifestyle according to one of the vampires in Breaking Dawn. They stayed indoors too much or something like that. They weren’t necessarily old when they became vampires.
I thought he looked like Malfoy from Harry Potter, but I LOVE this boy.

I sort of agree i mean i imagined caius as having more of a phisically “i’m toatlly plotting to kill you look” than him…but he is a good actor plus the only thing that would stop me from seeing New Moon is if i became blind(even then i would listen to it) XD wait does anyone know if vanessa hudgens is going to be in it!? THAT wouldn’t make me not see the movie but it might make me puke X(

i don’t really like him. I really hope the makeup department does a good job. I also thought he would look older. not like super old but more…how should i say this…mature? more around Carlisle’s age or a little older.
Caius, Marcus, and Aro are old, yes in the sense that they’re well over 3,000 years old as vampires, but they were changed at a relatively young age. (probably around 23-27) CARLISLE WAS CHANGED AT AGE 23. Peter Facinelli is actually a little too old looking to be playing Carlisle, so i think they’ve got it more accurate than in the movie Twilight with Facinelli. Don’t forget the makeup and CGI to give all three of them papery, translucent looking, extra pale skin, and RED red eyes. Stop complaining, we’ll more than likely be plenty satisfied with the end result.

Wow. Very stunned. He has a good ‘look’ about him for some part in the movie… but I guess my ‘reality’ is unchecked also because I could swear Caius was older. Was he an albino? Where did the white hair come from? And wasn’t he an expert in the miltary? Like… at age 9? Yeah, yeah, I know people did things at younger ages back then but… meh. Not feeling him as Caius. Sorry.

When i saw his picture i thought he was going to be alec i personally cant picture him as Caius but I dont know we’ll see how he does

i kinda always pictured the volturri as being older, but i know that they obviously would look young, and their age only shows in their eyes, so i guess this makes sense…he does have a somewhat “impish” look in his eyes, so i can see him as caius…can’t wait to see the rest of the cast!!!
