Part 2 of the Lexicon Music feature is about your opinion on the New Moon Soundtrack!
Ok Twilight fans here is your chance to share your opinion on which song from Stephenie’s playlist you think should be included in the New Moon soundtrack. In case anyone has forgotten the playlist (I know how silly that sounds) go here. In this one instance I am going to be completely biased in my choice. I think that Be My Escape by Reliant K is the perfect choice. Now before I receive a ridiculous amount of hate mail let me explain my choice. This song reminds me a lot of what Bella’s struggle in New Moon is about and there is one particular scene that the song reminds me of. Motorcycles, need I say more? Just so you can all see my opinion is based on a bit more than bias here are the reasons why including lyrical support:
1. Be My Escape as a song represents what Jacob is to Bella. In a sense he saves her from herself.
Cause I’ve been housing all this doubt and insecurity and
I’ve been locked inside that house all the while You hold the key
And I’ve been dying to get out and that might be the death of me
And even though, there’s no way in knowing where to go, promise I’m going because
I gotta get outta here
Cause I’m afraid that this complacency is something I can’t shake

2. As far as Bella goes she gets that she has become a shell of herself without Edward but finding a way out of the loss she feels isn’t easy and wouldn’t be accomplished without an escape (enter Jacob).
I’m giving up on doing this alone now
Cause I’ve failed and I’m ready to be shown how
He’s told me the way and I’m trying to get there
3. Lastly the song reminds you of what Bella needs an escape from, Edward.
But the beauty of grace is that it makes life not fair (this is by far one of my favorite lines)
Now not to neglect some other amazing music here are my other choices.
Memory by Sugarcult (acoustic version) This is listed as a Bella song on the playlist.

Hate Me by Blue October This is possibly the most perfect Edward song ever. I was a fan of Blue October prior to them being introduced to the Twilight world and didn’t realize just how complimentary their lyrics are.

My Immortal by Evanescence I think this is the first song most people associated with Bella and Edward’s relationship and it relates well to the situation in New Moon.

There are so many great songs! I can’t really vote.
I think some Disturbed, Killswitch, Within Temptation, Bush should be in the film. Some of the music would look awesome with some of the scenes.

I love Fix You for New Moon, it has the perfect mood. And the lyrics are great for it too. I feel like its from Jake’s perspective, singing to Bella.

I really think they should do The Reason by Hoobastank and Hate Me by Blue October. Those two songs just embody New Moon to me.
I think Fighting by Yellowcard should be in it. It can be related to both Bella and Edward. It’s crazy how much it reminds me of New Moon. Here’s a little bit of it:

I think that My Never- Blue October should be on the New Moon soundtrack. It’s a great one for Jacob.
I was actually listening to “Fix You” by Coldplay the first time I read the cliff scene in New Moon. The lyrics don’t match up the best, but music was absolutely perfect for the emotion in that scene. They have to put Coldplay on the soundtrack!!!
tautou by Brand New would be a really great part for Bella in the water after diving. not even the words but the music is really peaceful so it’d be greatfor how she’s feeling
Another Relient K song that I think is perfect for Edward thinking about Bella is Must Have Done Something Right. For when he’s actually in a lighthearted mood, which is when I like him best!

As I was reading “New Moon” I heard a new song by Pink called “I Don’t Believe You”. I think it would be perfect for when Edward leaves Bella. I picture a sort of montage of them together as it plays. Check out the lyrics and listen to it for yourself the music is so pretty and sad.

When I read this I knew exactly what song on the New Moon playlist I wanted to pick but it’s not on the poll. The Scientist by coldplay which is on Stephenie Meyer’s playlist for New Moon isn’t on the poll, so if you guys here at lexicon could add it, that would be great cause it is definitely perfect for Edward at the end of New Moon.
A lot of those songs are great and I myself used to listen to them. I like Time Stands Still, Pain, Fix You, Over My Head, Be My Escape, Memory, The Scientist, Like A Stone, Rest in Pieces, White Flag, Everybodys Changing, and The Reason. I don’t know if they’ll necessarily use any of the exact songs from her playlist, but they do usually use some of the same bands. I think the only song they actually used from her playlist for Twilight was “Tremble For My Beloved.” However they did use other songs in the movie from Radiohead, Linkin Park, and Muse. I think next soundtrack will definately have more from Paramore and Muse. I do like Muse and thought the song “Time Is Running Out” would have been great for Twilight and could work for New Moon also. Muse has so many good songs that would be fitting for New Moon. I’ve just finished reading everyone’s ideas and thought I should include songs that I like for NM that weren’t already included on Stephenie’s list. All of these songs have been brought up at least once already on this page. Breathe by Taylor Swift, Almost Lover by A Fine Frenzy, Breathe Me by Sia, and Your Guardian Angel by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. I especially love Your Guardian Angel because I’ve known the song for a while now and its on my top favorites. These are just artists/bands that I think should be included that haven’t already had a chance for Twilight.
‘Nemo’ by Nightwish has always reminded me of Edward when he left Bella in New Moon. Go check it out!
I think “Into the Ocean” by Blue October would be perfect for the cliff diving scene. Especially when Bella’s drowning and she becomes at peace with her death:

i think “Emergency” by Paramore would be a good choice too. “If you thought I’d leave then you were wrong ’cause I won’t stop holding on.” I think this part is for when Edward is explaining to Bella that he never felt the way he said he felt when he left her. “I’ve seen love die way too many times when it deserved to be alive.” Their love obviously deserved to live because it does when he comes back. “You do your best to show my love, but you don’t know what love is.” I think that part would be from Bella’s perspective toward Jacob. I think it’s perfect and Paramore has already done work for Twilight. Why not New Moon too?

I REALLY hope that Be My Escape is not on there. I hate that song; it’s totally horrible. And the Jonas Brothers have expressed interest in being on the New Moon soundtrack. A lot of people hate them, but I love them. However, I feel like they’re jumping on the bandwagon and I would not like to see them on the soundtrack.

Fix You and The Scientist by Cold Play are my two favorite songs and they characterize Jacob and Edward perfectly I think. I cry whenever I hear them now.
I Grieve by Peter Gabriel is also a beautiful song and I thought it would go well too for NM.
