If Drew Barrymore can make Kirsten Stewart be a little less horrible at playing Bella then i’m all for it. As of right now, Kirsten completely ruins the movies for me. I can’t get past the fact that she plays Bella completely wrong.

No, I don’t think that disliking the selection of Drew Barrymore is “hate filled”. I’m talking about the language used in her general direction. I’m just asking is it really necessary? Ok, don’t like her as an actress, don’t go see her movies, and don’t think she would do well as the director, but is it necessary to be so angry about it. It’s speculation at best!

As far as her heritage is concerned … my point (along with others) is that she does have the experience necessary to direct a film. Having lived the life she has is experience enough in my opinion!

I agree … Hollywood does not recognize some of the best female directors out right now. And yes, female directors are often turned down from projects simply based on the fact that they are female.

“Why not interview 25 of those women and pick one.” I thought that most of the arguments stem from the fact that she isn’t experienced enough. If she’s not “experienced enough” then how are graduates right out of college?

I don’t think most people are against Drew directing, we just don’t want her directing Eclipse. I don’t want her involved because she has little experience (if any) with special effects. If it was just a love story then I would be willing to give her a shot.

Why do people care so much about a female director? Who cares the gender, don’t we all want the best possible film? In general male directors have more experience with special effects than female directors, and I care more about skill than what color they are, or what religion they are or what gender they are. Women can be sexist against men and I consider saying things like “we need a female director” as being sexist. If we could just get past all of the classifications and focus on credentials, things would be so much easier.

And yeah, Catherine screwed up Twilight so much that Peter Jackson would never want to associate his name with this movie series (though I would love it if he could direct eclipse).

I love Drew! I think she’s an amazing actress and producer. And yes, like some people here who have done research, the Barrymore’s are Hollywood royalty. Drew has more experience in the business than everybody involved with Twilight, and that’s including Summit. With that said, her as a director….I don’t want it because I do feel that if they are going to be switching director’s then Summit needs to get a director that fits Eclipse. But, this is just a rumor.

Guys, I wouldn’t jump the gun and say she wouldn’t be good. Just look at what everyone said about ROBERT. And they turned out to love him.

I just treat this news with a grain of salt until it is confirmed. If, and when, it is confirmed, I’ll support her fully.

Don’t judge until you’ve actually seen it!

Although I don’t think Drew will take that big of a step in directing such a fanbased film, since she’s only directed one movie before.
