Nylon Magazine interviewed Kristen Stewart in their current issue. She covers her new Joan Jett project as well as the Twilight experience. Be warned the language of the interview isn’t PG-13. TY to Twi-Crack Addict for the heads up.
Kristen Stewart in Nylon Magazine

I am excited to read this article. I love Nylon and I love Kristen. I too believe people are too harsh on her. She is a great actress and didn’t need Twilight to reach the point she is at. Cam even said that he was intimidated by how much more experience she had over him. Without Twilight she would have made a great career.
I could not imagine anyone else as Bella. She takes her work so seriously, but you can sense her passion. I really am starting to admire her. She’s real and doesn’t fluff things up. I can’t wait to get this in the mail. =]
Aw, Kristen. I keep making excuses for you and trying to like you but you keep making it harder and harder. I said you were shy and uncomfortable and that’s why you came off like a snob. I said you were stressed and that’s why you looked like you were high 24/7.
I love Bella and like Kristen as Bella but I’m done trying to justify Kristen’s crap.
Her attitude stinks, her language stinks and her lack of respect for Twilight and the fans stink. I agree with others who have said that she’s just not good enough for Rob.
At least Rob appreciates all of this. It scares him, but he understands how lucky he is.
Kristen turns her nose up at it at every chance. Maybe she should have stuck with her “little movies that don’t make a dime but that make her feel good about her *art*”. I got to say though, if she’s going to be a snob about the artsy depth of her movies, she needs to rethink movies like Adventureland. From what I’ve seen, Twilight has 10 times the depth of that American Pie remake.
And she also needs to realize that most of the people who will go to her non-Twilight movies will go “because” she was in Twilight.
i’ve always appreciated the fact that kristen has kept it “real” and never really sugar coated things. and i agree, if i got asked the same question 52 times in a span of 12 hours, i would go nuts. but she has to realize that this is her JOB. you get cast, you act, you promote. thats how the movie business works. if you want to be respected, and maybe get asked real questions every once and a while, then get your head out of your ass and do your job. appreciate the fact that you have been gifted enough to be a part of a huge movie and a huge supporting fanbase that made you famous.
honestly, i love kstew. but this is over the top.
(and who turns down the oscars!?! are you stupid??)
you guys she makes me so sad! I just went on the access site and yeah there’s the quote of her father saying she turned down the oscars because she wants to present when she’s in a “good movie not one thats just makes a lot of money”
thanks for the slap on the face Kristen. I guess twilight is not good enough for you.
Reading her comments and what her father said at the Academy Awards makes me sad. Like so many others, I saw the movie several times. Not because I thought it was beyond awesome. No, I did it so we could see New Moon and Eclipse made and with better quality than Twilight. We invested our time and money to support Twilight because we CARE. As Barney said, “caring means sharing”.
Lest we not forget, these books and the movie were marketed not to mature and rational adults capable of asking thought provoking questions, but to tweens and teens who do care about what it’s like to kiss a vampire or even a boy. Come on now. Are those of you who are older than 16 really going to deny that you read those teen magazines and weren’t utterly absorbed by what the flavor of the month boy had to say? Let’s not forget that we were once tweens with celebrity crushes.
Her father wouldn’t have said that unless she actually felt that way. Why should I or anyone else continue to invest time and money when we’re not certain that the lead actor is willing to make an investment of her talent and enthusiasm? How can we believe she put her heart into Twilight when her own father makes a statment like that?
I want an actress to love playing Bella so much that if she won an award like Kate Winslet or Penelope Cruz or even Halle Berry, she’d accept with feeling and let us know that she really put her all into it. I guess we’ll know how she really feels when the MTV movie awards roll around. Thanks for reading!
For those who are defending her YOU DON’T GET IT !
You say Kristen is straight forward and cool but DOES IT HURT TO SMILE OR RESPECT THE TWILIGHT FANS ?
The questions are dumb and silly but you know what IT’S YOUR DAMN JOB TO ANSWER THOSE SILLY QUESTIONS ! If you don’t like it then don’t do anymore Twilight films ! I bet your there are other films that get worser questions and deal with more BS than this but they take it gracefully !
Kristen looks down at the books and the fans and you know what that’s rude and disrespectful ! I adore and love these books and it’s a shame Summit picked someone who doesn’t like it one bit !
KRISTEN IS ONE OF THOSE DOWNERS AND NEEDS TO LIGHTEN THE DAMN UP !!
I CAN’T STAND HER PLEASE LET KRISTEN DO HER EMO MOVIES ! I just can’t stand looking at that girl she talks shit about Twilight and the fans !
I’m sorry if I see that girls face aheknlekfn
I WONDER HOW SHE WOULD FEEL IF SOMEONE SHIT ALL OVER SOMETHING SHE LOVES !
Here is what someone else posted on the nylon article and I agree completely:
“Why do people defend rudeness by saying it’s just “being real”. You can be real without insulting people.”
I really really want to like her. But some of the things she says…. ugh. she just seems so ungrateful. and almost like now that twilight is huge she has to put it and the fans down. people are going to ask silly questions. so what? answer them and be KIND and move on.
She’s not “real”, she is trying to act all cool, and holier then thou, as if she is above the rest. If her acting was good, i could see it, but she sucks. she can’t act, the ONLY thing she has going for her is she is skinny…and in Hollywood that seems to be all important. i don’t see real actors behaving like she does, some of the greats like Julia Roberts, or even Kristen’s idol, Jodi foster is nice to the press and us poor ignorant peasants(Fans) Grow up Kristen, no one died and made you a god. Your just a girl in a move, like so many before you. and with an attitude like yours, no one will remember you much past the twilight series…Rob on the other hand;}}
I haven’t enjoyed any of KS’s recent interviews and I believe this one will be the last I read. Marketing and selling a movie is clearly part of accepting a role. I don’t think she has to necessarily enjoy meeting hordes of screaming fans, but I do expect her to appreciate that these fans help promote the books and the movies. Please, KS, a little more diplomacy when discussing those of us who spend our time and money on your films.
Whereas people have a difficult time separating RP from his role as Edward, I have trouble believing KS in her role as Bella. Her obvious disdain for Twilight and it’s varied fan-base have clouded my view. When I read Twilight, Bella really seemed to be a more humble person…perhaps we should find an actress that can at least act that way.
I put up a previous post on this thread trying to defend Kristen, but I just cant defend her anymore. After reading what her father said about the academy awards, that makes me so sad. And yea, Kristen didnt say it but her father is a direct reflection of her, and he obviously would not have said it if she didnt feel the same way. I really tried to defend her and tried to put myself in her shoes but there is no excuse for that. It makes me sad and feel like such an idiot for sleeping at a mall for 8 hours just to see her when she was doing the mall tours!! I wonder what she as thinking when I asked her “So what was your favorite scene?”. Ughhh she really bothers me now, I really wish they could re-cast Bella. Why did she even take the part is she didn’t like it?!!!
At least I still have Rob to look forward to in the upp-comming movies
Kristen honestly leaves me confused. Reading this interview, I wished that I could have seen her. I don’t think I, myself, have seen her smile just because she wants to. She smiles to pose. This interview seemed like she was cutting loose- if I can, I look forward to seeing her portray Joan Jett. Lord knows the chick needs to cut loose!
And to me, she isn’t exactly NEGATIVE- more like she has a more serious outlook on things. We’re so used to celebrities doing stupid-ass things like getting knocked up at SIXTEEN and getting DUI for, like, the fifth time in a row. Then we get thrown a big one when a serious girl comes to play. We instantly want to scrutinize her, to see if she’ll crack like everyone else has.
I mean, good gracious, people! Let’s try and see some positive stuff, shall we? So, she was casted as Bella in this HUGELY successful novel-made-movie. She is well-behaved (smoking aside) and has gained a lot more attention from Twilight. She seems like a very deep person- which is someone we could use. I mean, I don’t think that Kristen was chose just because of her acting, but also because of how she is as a person. She seems to fit the character almost to a tee.
Now, at first, I was skeptical. But now, after the movie, I’m starting to get turned-on (not in THAT way) to Kristen being cast as Bella. I mean, she and Rob have POIFECT chemistry. Sure, a smile once and a while would be good, but she really captures Bella’s reluctance of Edward, and her starting to really get used to him. I pray Bella shows some smiles in NM! (A strange thing to wish, considering the consequences, but I’m still keeping my fingers crossed.) And let’s face it ladies (and men): would you rather have some chick who does a really good Bella but acts like a stupid celebrity whose idol is Paris Hilton or would you like Kristen? Because let’s face it; that probably would be how it turned out. Kristen’s as deep as it gets.
So, to summarize it, Kristen is a baffling person. But that makes her all the more interesting. She may not understand how important it was for her to get that role in Twilight, and she may have an almost cold outlook on Twilight and the fandom, but hey. We’re not all perfect. Let us just all hope that the apparant dislike that she has for Twilight doesn’t show when she’s on screen!
Good luck, Kristen!

For me, it’s not about who’s “real” or “phony.” I honest to God can’t stand people who act like someone is holding a gun to their to head and forcing them to do something they don’t want to do. If she’s really sick of Twilight, don’t do it. Just leave. Or those Kristen secretly love Twilight becuase it’s opening doors for other movies and it at least is a steady paycheck, but you she can’t admit that because it would be a contradiction of past statements she has made and that would make a hypcrite, thus making her a “phony.”
In all, honestly I don’t she would have gotten the part if anybody, but Hardwicke was directing it. C’mon Kristen be real, did you really audition for Twilight? And I’m not talking about coming in for a reading, did you really do as many call backs as other actors had to do when they audition for a part? Let’s be real. KS you know damn well you got the part because your “best friend,” Nikki, knew Hardwicke. There’s nothing wrong with that, many people have gotten parts because they knew somebody who knew somebody it’s called networking. But, maybe that’s why she does have such an attitude about Twilight, she didn’t have to work that hard for the part.
Even though she didn’t audition(not to my knowledge) Michelle Trachtenberg would have been my choice for Bella. Now that girl can act! But, I guess people would have said she was “too well know,” and she already did something with vampires. Plus, she’s really tall (5’7″), which would have sucked for Taylor.
omg! i hate kristen stewart she stole my man… no matter how or when but edward cullen will be mine…if that doesnt work out i will settle for taylor lautner!!!!!
i personally believe that kristen is not a very good actress… she probabally only did the movie to meet taylor lautner!
I am so diappointed in her nasty attitude. All she cares about is playing Joan Jett. I want an actress who is interested in playing Bella. I didn’t even know her until Twilight and her acting sucked. Robert is a class act.
i think kristen stewart seems like an amazing person, and i don’t think she should just be referred to “as the chick from twilight”–even though twilight plays a big part in her being so well known now. she DOES NOT hate her fans, i think her anger is mostly directed at the frustrating paparazzi and redundant [and quite unnecessary] questions that she often gets asked. in interviews that i’ve seen of her, she just seems so modest and honest and like she’s not looking for all the “hype” and “fame”. the entire cast of twilight (in my opinion) was excellently picked. and yeah, to all those wondering: THERE IS A SHORT VIDEO CLIP OF HER BEHIND THE SCENES AT THE NYLON SHOOT. youtube it! (:
BESIDES, this
isn’t even the entire interview–i think the actual spread is over 5 pages long.
I wish they re cast. She can’t act
Kristen is always negative! Her cussing is like wayy out of control. What a terrible role model. I have disliked her since they way beginning, she shouldn’t play Bella. She totally ruins the character for me. If the directers of something see this, please recast Bella for all the fans! Kristen sounded soo freakin’ ungrateful. That’s the only reason people would know who she is. She never actually shows that she really cares about the fans or anything. Even her father said that she didn’t want to show up at the OSCARS because “Kristen felt that she has to like the movies or something to present about it”. How can anyone actually look up to someone if that person doesn’t even care? Twilight saga was a big deal in my life and I’d always loved to visualize the characters. But between Kristen who is “acting” as Bella in the suckish movie and her as a snobbish brat in real life, it overshadowed my feelings for the real characters not just the actors.
Some people say we can’t judge someone’s personality without knowing them first? But even if a celeb PRETENDS to be nice, at least they have the common sense and caring to know that people are admiring them. If she isn’t even pretending to be nice or grateful, then her personality is as bad as it can get. Kristen doesn’t even care if the fans see/hear what she says or not. She does’t care about their feelings.
If she doesn’t want to be freakin’ bothered, then maybe she shouldn’t bbe in New Moon anymore. I certainly would be happy if she drops out. I’m sure other people would too. I took alot of my time stating my opinion about how I thought because this means a lot to me. I HOPE STEPHANIE MEYER REALIZES THE MOVIE, KRISTEN, AND THE DIRECTERS, etc RUINED THE WONDERFUL STORIES SHE CREATED!(I’m not picking on Kristen, I’m trying to like her but that part is almost gone. You don’t see me picking on Nikki or Rob b/c they actually know that Twilight helped them launch their careers) I HOPE STEPHANIE MEYER REALIZES THE MOVIE, KRISTEN, AND THE DIRECTERS, etc RUINED THE WONDERFUL STORIES SHE CREATED!(
I love her for being honest. For not being fake. For not putting on a fake smile. For not acting the way EVERYONE else wants her to act. She is herself. Just because you are famous doesn’t mean you have to put on a mask and be the person your fans want you to be. She knows that she cant make everyone happy. So there is no point in her acting like what you want her to be like. She is a good actress, and to be honest… crappy budgets and insane directors are what ruins movies. Twilight looked very acted out. Kind of just thrown together. As though they just got tired of trying to get the scene just right and settled for good enough.
