From other interviews, Solomon really knows his stuff - he's read the books from cover to cover. That's evidenced by the fact that he corrected Wardrobe (lol!). He obviously really really loves the story and is a fan. Even if he was using to his advantage, really, who are we to begrudge someone trying to make a career doing what they love to do??? The fact is, he's a real fan, he's into Sam's role, and he wants to continue.
