The Twilight Saga in the News

Reuters talks about how 2008 was The Year of the Vampire, and the Twilight Saga’s Role. Reuters also covers Amazon.com’s Best of 2008 list.  Breaking Dawn was the best selling book of 2008, Twilight was the most sold gift book, and Twilight was the most positively reviewed Kindle book.

Christmas was so good over at Amazon.com that according to the New York Times, "Amazon’s press release has all sorts of entertaining factoids…it sold enough “Breaking Dawn” books that, if stacked end to end, they would reach the summit of Mount Everest eight times…"

The Ottowa Citizen looks at what makes books award winners and if that should change.

I do think that WHAT we read is a little more important than the fact that we ARE reading; I love Twilight and Harry Potter and the like, but I wish my fellows could try something with a little more… substance… occasionally. They could probably use it.

Also, (and as I said, I love Twilight) I think this is resulting in a sad and strange perversion of the title “classic”. Someone told me the other day she thought Twilight should be considered a “classic”, up there with Romeo and Juliet the works of Emily Dickinson. To me, this comparison is more than a little frightening.

Someone spelt Ottawa wrong. Its an A not an O! UGH, it frustrates me so much… there’s even a picture beside the post with the proper spelling. Please give Canada some respect….

Please change the spelling of Ottawa – I’m from there, and find it a bit frustrating that you can’t even spell Canada’s capital correctly.

  12. cammy says:

Well, refering to the fact that the sold Breaking Dawn books at amazon made up Mount Everst x 8: imagine how many trees that is. Creepy :(

Wow! Go Twilight Saga, and The Host!! I just finished Breaking Dawn, my grandparents got it for me for Christmas, otherwise I would have been done a long time ago, and it was amazing!! I love it!! It’s just sad that it is the last one of the saga. I just hope that, even though she said she wouldn’t, she someday goes back to fors. I mean, who could leave Emmette?Alice?Jacob?Nessie?Seth?Bella?Carlie?and EDWARD?? But, anyway, sorry if my post is bothering you,but I just felt like I had to share because I know my fellow Twilight fans will listen, unlike anyone else.
