I think that the TwiCon people should have started smaller & built up a larger base group before trying to out-con everyone else. I'm not saying that there isn't a fanbase in Dallas, I'm saying that as a brand spanking new con they should start small & work their way up. Being in a HUGE convention center & inviting umpteen big name stars isn't a financially sound way to go, especially since they can't guarantee their appearance. (And even if they don't show some stars have contracts that let them keep the fees.) Since they are a new con & their stability isn't guaranteed, the stars will charge more. That's a stone hard fact. (I've some con experience.)

As an experienced con-goer of many different things I've attended new cons. The ones that started out modestly & slowly built up to the large con halls & stars are the ones that stay around the longest. As for the con's reactions to the artist's alley, that's stupid. I can understand them not wanting to sell Twi fan-art b/c of copyrights, but the artists should still be able to sell anything that is original & not copyrighted by the powers that be.

TWILIGHT FANS!! DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY ON THIS SO QUICKLY! I've just got a really nasty feeling that this con is being too ambitious & that it'll flop. Maybe some cons are expensive, but there's no reason that this one should be. It's not in some foreign country where there's only 2-3 cons in the entire country. (The US is very con-friendly.) Unless they're giving every con-goer a big bag of goodies, I wouldn't pay $255 for a ticket. I'd rather go to a con that's cheaper & more guaranteed to be worth the money. $255 to squeal with a bunch of other fans & stare at a bunch of stars? I can do that on the internet... for FREE!

This worked out great for me. no offense though. i will be in dallas the 24- 29 of july anyways. yea!!! As soon as i found out i got tickets. the whole thing meet and greet and all, i couldn't be happier. i would have never been able to go if i wasn't already going to be there. actually now that i think about it, it was probably wise to do it there. The thing i am going to is an expo of actors and singers and models. hmmm all of those big corp. companies and guys are going to already be in dallas. hmm that was probably it.

I would love to go, but I"m in Cailf. Do you think that maybe they could have one in S.F or S.J? Just a thought. Maybe I will go, but it's to much money. O well. I'll work it out.

Alright guys, let's take a look at this. TwiCon is the first conference of it's kind. Somebody already mentioned above all the things that the registration fee has to cover. Now let's look at some of the other conferences out there, like DragonCon or ComiCon. Sure, they might charge less, but look at the numbers. Those events have more than 10,000, ComiCon even more than 100,000 attendees daily. Special guests who appear there often do so because it's a great opportunity to reach their fans and others get some underwriting from projects they have running outside of the film/TV show they are working on at the time. Also, these conferences don't pay for 1st class RT plane tickets but pay only hotel and per day. And those huge events get great rates because of all the money that is at play, lots of big sponsors, etc. Like I said, Twicon is a first-time event, they don't have any underwriters covering costs that can be written off. Most of the expenses need to be covered through the registration fee. And now they have this payment plan which I think is a great idea for people who don't have the whole amount right away because it enables them to register anyways. I really think that a lot of thought went into this and they try to make it as affordable as possible for everybody.

DUDE!!!!! I just registered, and THEY HAVE A PAYMENT PLAN!!!! You can pay half now and half later. I only had to pay $127.50 when I registered and the rest will be deducted later. Now it's even easier for me to go since I have time to save. AUGH! TWICON ROCKS!!!!
