In the News

The Wall Street Journal seemingly reads our blog comments (waves hello to the WSJ) they have an article on Midnight Sun. (Sorry about the weird link, it won’t let us direct link for some reason. If you copy and paste the URL into your browser, it should come up.) Found the problem, it’s something to do with newest version of my Firefox browser which for reasons unknown is throwing an attempt at javascript into everything.

According to an MTV broadcast last night, Kristen Stewart will appear on the MTV Music Video Awards on September 7. The program starts at 9:00/8:00 central (but check your local listings to be sure).  Thanks to PrettyOdd14 for the heads up.

I’m sure we’ve all heard phrases like "fans devour Stephenie’s books" well it seems that one fan took that a bit literally. We’ve seen some grizzly bear cakes before, but this is the first book cake we’ve actually seen. Thanks to Christi for sharing.

Me and my friends were going to make a cake like that for the BD midnight release party, but we didn’t because A) none of us have artistic talent, B) we’re all lazy, C) We argued on which book to do (I was like, ‘Eclipse will be easy, chess is hard!’ but Cami was like ‘No! It’s the BD release, so we have to do BD!’).

    So… yeah.

  39. Allye says:

Hey yea, what’s up with only mentioning Kristen is gonna be at the MTV VMA’s? Aren’t Robert and Taylor supposed to be there too? They’re like, presenting an award, no? At least, I thought they were. Isn’t that what it said in a previous Twilight Tuesday? Or at least an article on MTV. Hmm.

And I too love the cake! I can’t believe someone had the talent and patience to make that!!

  40. Selene says:

I had a cake JUST like that for my 16th birthday! =DD

  41. Vampire-in-training says:

i am sooooo getting that cake for my birthday.
maybe even put a picture of rob pattinson on it;-)

  42. Joanna says:

Sometimes the reality of Midnight Sun hits me again and impacts me at different times. And this is one of those times. Selfishly, I want the novel to come out as soon as possible. I hate that it’s on hold. But I also hate the betrayal of the whole situation. Stephenie has been nothing short of amazing to her fans, and I hate that this could not be reciprocated by everybody. Definitely am hyped for Kristen Stewart’s MTV appearance and that’s a cool cake, but the Midnight Sun issue is overshadowing it. I really do respect Stephenie’s decision. And she has been more than graceful about it, especially about posting her unedited draft officially, but I wish it didn’t go this way.

Oh, Stephenie Meyer. That woman. Once you start to love her books and her herself, it’s just a huge powerful emotional roller coaster from there through her books, news, and experiences. She makes you feel involved.

  43. charlotte says:

i just read the wsj article and now i’m really depressed. i agree with joanna – sometimes i feel really hopeful that stephenie will change her mind, but at other times i feel like i may never get to read midnight sun since i can’t read that manuscript without knowing whether it will have a proper ending or not. it’s just so confusing, and i’m deeply saddened that stephenie doesn’t feel like she can continue this book, even though she has the loving and patient support of her fans. i fully respect her decision, but i’m not sure if i wholly agree with it. technically… we are being punished for someone else’s mistake, when all we have done is be loyal to stephenie and wait for her to finish midnight sun properly. i hate to sound so negative; as i said before, i am often optimistic about midnight sun and believe wholeheartedly that it will end up being published. this is just really… emotional. oh my edward… it feels like i’ve just been broken up with. :(

  44. mangobun says:

wow!! i’m soo amazed at teh book cake!! i woudl LOVE TO DEVOUR THAT! HAHAH

  45. Wow. That cake is so awesome.

  46. Meg says:

The cake looks amazing. Anyone know what flavor it was?

  47. cristi h. says:

it was a chocolate cake….my favorite flavor for my favorite book.

  48. ka says:

    No one cares.
Books 1 & 3 are the decent ones. Her numbers represent hype, not quality. I can’t wait for a new book to come out and bump Twilight out of the list.

  49. Vampire-In-training says:

    ka:
what do you mean her number represent hype not quality?
stephenie meyer has just had a tough few days and i honestly dont think she deserves that type of criticism.

  50. Sandra says:

At the end day it’s criticism. If she/he wants to criticise Stephenie then let him/her. I don’t think because she’s had a ‘tough few days’ is a good reason why somebody shouldn’t criticise her. Ton’s of writers have had a tough few days and still been criticised. It’s their opinion after all. I personally don’t think she’s a good writer. She’s a good storyteller but as a writer I think she’s average. It’s my opinion and i’m not going to sugar coat it or not say it cause Stephenie’s had a ‘few tough days’.

On another note well done to whoever made that cake. It’s very good :)
