Twilight Fans Helping Twilight Fans

One of the very best parts of being involved in the Twilight fandom is the willingness of fans to help other fans out. So, below are fans that need your help. Give them a shout out!

First, YouTube is being evil and not letting me embed a video, but a student documentary film maker need help from fans.

See her initial plea here, and a follow up here.

Next is a fan who will be making a presentation at Twicon and she needs your help in her research on Team Edward, Team Jacob, and Team Switzerland.

Twilight Movie News

Unless the James Bond film Quantum of Solace makes a sudden comeback in the next 48 hours, the Twilight movie just edged it out for the number 8 slot in the top finishing movies this year. Not that we’re gloating or anything, but what a large number of media pundits dismissed as a "just chick flick that wouldn’t make anything" just beat the testosterone ridden James Bond.

E! Now if you want to take into account money spent vs. money earned, Twilight beat out every film this year.

BoxOffice Mojo According to Box Office Mojo, here are the top grossing films of 2008:

1 The Dark Knight WB $530,896,852
2 Iron Man Par. $318,313,199
3 Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Par. $317,023,851
4 Hancock Sony $227,946,274
5 WALL-E BV $223,783,432
6 Kung Fu Panda P/DW $215,434,591
7 Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa P/DW $174,862,381
8 Twilight Sum. $167,325,198
9 Quantum of Solace Sony $164,302,659
10 Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who! Fox $154,529,439

The Twilight Saga in the News

Reuters talks about how 2008 was The Year of the Vampire, and the Twilight Saga’s Role. Reuters also covers Amazon.com’s Best of 2008 list.  Breaking Dawn was the best selling book of 2008, Twilight was the most sold gift book, and Twilight was the most positively reviewed Kindle book.

Christmas was so good over at Amazon.com that according to the New York Times, "Amazon’s press release has all sorts of entertaining factoids…it sold enough “Breaking Dawn” books that, if stacked end to end, they would reach the summit of Mount Everest eight times…"

Happy Birthday Pel!!!

December 29th is a special day here at the Lexicon. It is Pel’s birthday!!!  First off it is necessary for everyone to understand how much time and energy Pel puts into the Lexicon.  She is the tech guru, the morning, noon and night news anchor, she empties out the inbox numerous times a day (that is no small feat), and she is not afraid to wield the scepter of doom when necessary.  Did we mention that this is meant to be a hobby and not actually her full time job?  So on this great day we ask that all of you join us in wishing Pel a very happy birthday.  The Lexicon wouldn’t be possible without all her incredible efforts.

We have created a thread for you all to wish Pel a Happy Birthday and to share some of your favorite Pel moments!

And to all the rest of you out there with a birthday on December 29th Happy Birthday!!!

EDITED:  I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for the birthday posts. I didn’t have access to the Internet until this afternoon to see exactly what was up. My first clue that Alphie did a video was text messages asking me if I had seen the video on the Lex, and my first thought was "Lori made a video? How did that happen?" (If you’ve ever seen Lori dealing with technical things, you understand.) So TY to Be My Escape and Alphie for doing this without me knowing and thanks again all for the birthday wishes. I’m now off to sort out the news. 🙂

Movie News

NP The National Post makes a comparison that we’ve never seen before: Twilight vs. Beverly Hills 90201. Somehow the writer of the article hasn’t noticed that Kellan Lutz is in both casts.

The New York Times covers how the definition of "Blockbuster" varies by year.

New Moon made Film Jabber’s 30 Hottest Movies to See in 2009 list.

Entertainment and Showbiz Twilight made the list for most movie mistakes of the year, but so did the Dark Knight, Momma Mia, Iron Man and other top selling movies. There are probably other movies with tons of mistakes, but not that many people saw them to report them.
