While trolling are the Internet today while waiting for the Borders video to load (I’m starting to wonder if we broke Border’s bandwith) I noticed something interesting on the New York Times Bestseller List,
- New Moon is still at number one with 50 weeks total on the list. This means (for those of you keeping count) it has never left the bestseller list since it debuted almost a year ago.
- The paperback version of Twilight is enjoying its 49th week on the list. It has been on the list since it debuted in paperback form.
- And now, for the first time in almost two years, the hardcover version of Twilight is back on the list just under New Moon in the number 4 position.
If you go to Amazon.com (Borders.com is one of their partners) you can see the Eclipse based on pre-orders is their 7th bestselling book period…not on a children’s listing, overall. It is ahead of the current Oprah book pick, and the new James Paterson novel. Unsurprisingly, the only children’s book outselling Eclipse is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows; however, Eclipse is outselling every other Harry Potter book except for the full book gift set.
I know most of us are also Harry Potter fans, but let’s launch Eclipse to catch Harry. If we can do that it will really be something. Just as a reminder, the Changing Hands bookstore will be happy to ship you autographed copies of Eclipse in case Stephenie is not doing a signing in your area. They ship anywhere in the world. So if you are overseas and want a to be assured of a legit autographed copy, they are a great source. Changing Hands got a lot of media attention for their Harry Potter release, wouldn’t it be cool if they could report that Eclipse was outselling Harry? That would be a story.
So get out there and preorder those books, or make plans to get one from your local bookseller the week of August 7th!

HP has 1st place in my heart, but as I’ve told anyone who’ll listen, Twilight would be the best book in the universe if HP didn’t exist. It’s gotten to the point where HP is the bible; Twilight IS the best book ever but belief comes first.

The Twilight and Harry Potter series’ are both completely beyond amazing, as every multiple-celled organism in the universe should know. I am addicted to both of them equally and have an abnormal emotional attatchment to both. If my house was burning down and I could only take a few things within arms distance, I would take those 10 books, and my dog. To choose between Twilight or Harry would be like choosing between my heart or my brain–I need both.

YEAH Twilight!!!!! I also kind of doubt we’ll beat out Harry, since he’s been around for so much longer, but I’m so proud that we could be up there with him! This achievement makes me want to kick in the shins all those people who sneer at us for loving Twilight as much as HP and say, “See??”
And it also reinforces my standing about a Twilight movie: free money!! How could there be any doubt about whether it would be worth it to make one, with this kind of popularity?? Seriously, it’s guaranteed gold! (Okay, so it would be nice if they could make it *well*.. but we’d all go see it anyway, right?)

I’ve read and loved all the HP books too, but J.K Rowling has gotten her deserved popularity. She’s broken tons of records. She is one of the richest women in the world. Eclipse taking the lead for once would mean nothing to her. However, it WOULD mean something to Stephenie if she was known as the author that beat DH in sales after two and a half weeks. It would be a news story that would get more people interested in her books. J.K. Rowling is already a legend, and I don’t know about you guys, but I think Stephenie should be too.

omg! i cant wait! I’m soooo exited ((just like everyone else!)) GO STEPHENIE!!! Her books are SO much better than Harry Potter ((in my opinion at least…))
*shrugs* JK Rowling has gotten a lot of popularity for her books, and maybe it wouldn’t mean much to her to be beat out in the bestseller lists after a few weeks. But I still think I’d rather Deathly Hallows stayed tops for a long, long time.
Besides, I think it’s just as good for Eclipse to be second to Harry Potter, and *only* Harry Potter, especially if it stays in the bestseller lists for the year (which I think is possible).
On that note, Deathly Hallows is leading the bestseller books in 2007, too. Yay!
Obviously Rowling is a legend and DH is one of the most amazingg books ever I was up till 5 am finishing it and it does deserve its glory for bing such a fantastic series. But my loyalty does and forever will lie with Bella and Edward so there is no doubt in my mind that if eclipse doesn’t beat harry now it will eventually and many more books to come! and then Stephanie will be known as the next great writing legend.
So lets help her get there shall we.

Ok I believe that HP is great don’t get me wrong, but Stephenie has the ability to create characters that are so real it’s like you become a part of them. Plus she’s unbelievabley creative. Her spin on vampires is so original. She deserves to be on top. JK Rowling had her turn. It was well deserved also. I just think Stephenie’s at least that talented and Eclipse has the potential to be number one.

Wait I thought that Stephenie wasn’t sure about more than four books are you sure? Because that’s way worse than a yikes. That’s kind of like part of my life ending. man i hope she turns Bella into a vampire in Eclipse. There are to things in my opinion that are worse than Bella not turning into a vampire in this one. One never turning Bella into a vampire and two turning her into a vampire at the end of Eclipse and then making us wait a year to find out how that goes for her. THen agian it would be horrible if she changed her at the end of the series because I wanna know what all Bella’s special senses would be. Man I wish I could talk to Stephenie Meyer. I think the last one is the fourth, she said that in the borders interview thing. I think I speek for everyone when I say that these books have become so much apart of us that if she ends it at four, we will all start a petition to get her to continue the series. Maybe after four she will publish Midnight SUn, that would be so cool!

In any case, I think she’ll publish Midnight Sun for sure after Breaking Dawn.
I’d love her to write more books, but… well, I’d rather she end on a good note than continue the series and have it fade out. So if she thinks Breaking Dawn is where Bella and Edward’s story ends, I’d rather she keep it at that. (And then continue writing a different narrator, maybe. Jacob?)

ok totally off subject but my theory is that eclipse is going to be a war between the vampires and the warewolfs and bella is going to be stuck in the middle to decide who to fight for…but again thats just what i think.
Actually, the fourth is not the last one. She said somewhere (website maybe? I don’t know where half of the info I get comes from) that she will continue the Twilight series, just eventually with a different narrator. So, Twilight lives on forever!!
Of course, if you mean that the fourth is the last that Bella is narrating, then you may be right. I will miss Bella, though I’m anxious to see who she’ll have narrate. Jacob? Alice? Carlisle? Jasper? Secretly, I’m hoping Jasper. I don’t know why, but I think he sees things very differently than everyone… he sees people’s true emotions, not just what they say. It might make for a very different reading style…
And of course I am DYING for MIDNIGHT SUN!! Oh, I hope the publishers have the brains to make her work on it! I would take a break from Breaking Dawn (ha, that’s cool to say) if she would work on it. I’m sure most people are anxious to hear what happened through Edward’s perspective.

i really have no doubt that eclipse will out sell harry potter, the whole story line is just better, and jkr is no where near as good a writer as stephenie, i mean…COME ON! like i don’t think i was ever really “in love” with harry, but edward is so my lover!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and i’m so jealous of bella.

what i did was i went to barnes and noble and reserved a copy so that i can just go pick it up on the 7th, that way they are for sure to have a copy! but i bet you could also call and reserve a copy.

I’m torn on how soon I want Eclipse to overtake HP. Deathly Hallows was absolutely fantastic, amazing, spectacular, fabulous, ect., ect. I can’t get over how much I loved it. Harry and his friends deserve their final dues, so I, like sasha, would rather it not go out too soon. It’s the final HP book, and there will be more Twilight series books. However, that being said, I want Eclipse to get the #1 spot at some point. I’d love it to be soon, and my allegiance lies more to Twilight series than Harry Potter series, but I guess I want DH to be on top for some time. I’d make me feel like I’m paying proper tribute to the characters, especially the fallen ones.
